Videos | Joseph SoMo & Cody Tarpley- Drake Medley (Cover)
Posted by GMONEY on February 14, 2012
Denton, Texas based talent, Joseph Somo, is back at it again with another exceptional video that covers stand out tracks from Drake’s sophomore effort “Take Care”. With the release of this new video, I’m convinced that Joseph SoMo and Cody Tarpley are the Drake and 40 of the cover game right now. Absolutely unstoppable. If SoMo keeps making covers like this, he won’t be able to go out of his own house without a flashmob of tween girls giving chase. Must be tough to be him. Albums | Mike Stud – Critic (Prod. Brody Brown)
Posted by GMONEY on February 13, 2012
After making a music video to just about every song off his Toast To Tommy mixtape, the homie Mike Stud is back with a new joint for those of you that have been feenin’ for some fresh material. The track itself is an ode to his doubters and non-believers, where he reflects on his recent accomplishments which have a lot of people with their foot in their mouths. The video above is just a little something to hold you over till the official video drops (which you can expect in the near future). Also keep a heads up for a track from Mike and French Montana …yea, I said French Montana…

Videos | De-Lor Performs “Luckiest Man” Live At Venice Beach
Posted by GMONEY on February 13, 2012
De-Lor Performs “Luckiest Man” Live @ Venice Beach from JadoreTeam on Vimeo.
Although De-Lor has been quiet as of late, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been working. De-Lor recently went out to the west coast to shoot his the highly anticipated video for “Beautiful Life.” Along the way, he made a stop in Venice Beach for an impromptu performance to serenade patrons of the boardwalk. Looks like there was one blonde in particular that really took a liking to the performance. As a bonus, I’ve included more behind the scenes footage courtesy of DJ Moneybags. Hit “read on” for more.
Hip-Hop | Riff Raff ft. Action Bronson – Bird On A Wire (Video)
Posted by GMONEY on February 12, 2012
Hip-hop purists will automatically pass on this post because it features outlandish former reality TV star turned SODMG rapper Riff Raff featured with the heavily respected Action Bronson. Although I have no clue how this collaboration happened, Riff Raff delivers one of his greatest verses ever over Harry Fraud’s looming introspective beat. He raps, “Astons martins sparking one and valet parking/lone sharking hopin’ that my days don’t be darkened, Jeter’s skin.” Those who hate on Ronald are those who fail to understand that rap is now theatre, and Riff Raff is simply playing a character. Visuals go to Max Albert.
Girl Fire, Videos | Childish Gambino- Heartbeat (Video)
Posted by GMONEY on February 12, 2012
“I read his posts on your wall and I feel sick. He ain’t cool, he balling and all that, but he’s just a fake n*gga that blogs in all caps.“
For someone who’s accustomed to being a misogynistic bro, Childish Gambino’s “Heartbeat” video doesn’t exactly fit the bill. “Heartbeat” tells the story of two former lovers who struggle to deal with the initial breakup. Gambino knows the hottest love has the coldest end- and chose to make the video reflect the mood of the song. Since “Camp” is still in session, continue to support the child by purchasing his debut album on iTunes. Grab some graham crackers and marshmallows- this song is about to be on fire.

Albums | Clinton Sparks Readies Upcoming “My Awesome Mixtape 2”
Posted by GMONEY on February 9, 2012
Coming off a recent Grammy nomination for his work on Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”, multi-platinium producer Clinton Sparks has been hard at work preparing for the release of his highly anticipated “My Awesome Mixtape 2”. Rumored to be narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, the project will be heavily dance inspired (think Skrillex meets Jim Jones or Sidney Samson meets Rick Ross) and is slated for a Valentine’s day release. Talk about bawse. Now I know what I’m getting my ladyfriend for Valentine’s day. To hold us over until then, Get Familiar was kind enough to drop off a few tracks for our listening pleasure that I’ve included below. If these tracks are any indicator of what’s to come, 2012 could be Clinton Sparks’s break out year as an artist. Get familiar with Clinton’s movement by connecting with him on Facebook and Twitter. As a bonus, hit read on to check out Clinton’s recent video for “No Swag” featuring Jacob Kasher and Phil Shaouy.
Videos | Rick Ross – Yella Diamonds
Posted by GMONEY on February 8, 2012
I don’t care what you kids at home who still live with their parents who listen to Lil Wayne religiously think, Rick Ross is the hottest MC in the world right now. The New Yorker recently said of the bawse:
“What matters is not the rap sheet but the rhyme, and the spin the m.c. can give to the trade. Ross’s success in mimicking drug lords has brought him the ability to live like one of them. Profiles have documented his large homes, his fleet of cars, his shopping sprees at watch stores, his solicitous entourage and flexible schedule. Ross may represent the final abandonment of hip-hop’s mandate to “keep it real,” a concept that goes by different names now but has not gone away. Perhaps listeners know that this is a version of “Miami Vice,” a show that Ross claims to have been inspired by. The appeal is less some kind of documentary thrill than Ross’s ability to transmit the confidence that comes from blithely running up roaming fees while driving a Rolls-Royce through Samoa.”
Basically, the New York Times is saying Rick Ross is a big ole’ phony with a perfect correctional officer attendance record. How can you blame them. It’s all true. That doesn’t matter though. Like all good pop music, rap is now theatre, and Rick Ross is simply playing a character. If you didn’t pick up “Rich Forever” the first time I encourage you to do so – as it will inevitably make you feel like you could be the biggest drug dealer in the world.
