Hip-Hop, Rap | Dizzy Wright – The Golden Age
Posted by yabishcic on November 10, 2013
I don’t know how I ever overlooked the release of Dizzy Wright’s mixtape The Golden Age, which was dropped on August 19th, but here it is everyone. I’ve been taking a listen over the last couple of days and this is the biggest progression of maturity and production I’ve seen out of Dizzy since he’s been on the come up. With features like SwizZz, Honey Concaine, Kid Ink, Wyclef, Joey Badass, Logic, & more I’m thoroughly impressed. I’ve always respected Dizzy for his too-real raps and his great selection of beats that he’s notoriously rapped over the last couple of years, but The Golden Age has to be my favorite by far. Such a great compilation of mixes from bangers to mellow beats, everyone should hop on the Dizzy Wright train cuz it’s taking off.
Stream the whole mixtape here, or by it on iTunes!
Hip-Hop, Rap | Casey Veggies – Life$tyle Remix (feat. Curren$y)
Posted by yabishcic on November 10, 2013
After the release of Casey Veggie’s album ‘Life Changes’, he’s been on the low doing his own thang. Teaming up with Curren$y, who’s hot hot hot in the hip-hop industry, the two make Curren$y’s chill, tropical-like beats filled with baha synths and flutes work well with Casey’s down to earth, back to rap swag. In my opinion they need to collaborate more often.
Trap | Naughty Boy – Think About It (feat. Wiz Khalifa & Ella Eyre) [TWRK Remix]
Posted by yabishcic on November 10, 2013
Not too lyric heavy and just the right about of catchy trap beats to fill the void, this remix by NYC producer TWRK is pretty noteworthy to say the least. Great for DJ sets and underground parties.
Hip-Hop, Interviews, Rap | Times New Roman talks music, aspirations, and what’s next with FNT
Posted by yabishcic on November 6, 2013
Before our interview, I honestly had no idea what to expect from Times New Roman. All I knew about him was from his chill, laidback music that I had been listening to as of recently on his SoundCloud and the couple of exchanges we had over some emails prior to the date. As soon as we got the ball rolling though, I knew it was going to be a one of those interviews that would take its natural course. Of course, I already had some preset questions that I wanted to get answered along the way, but as far as formal conversations go, this was not one of them. Times New Roman, formally known as William Bolton, was more than eager to share talks about life, girls, music, and more. Currently residing in Chestnut Hill, MA attending Boston College as a sophomore, William lives a healthy balance between goals and reality, but is more than focused on his career as Times New Roman to blend the two together. Our interview flowed smoothly as ever, but here are the main questions that everyone should know the answer to when it comes to Times New Roman, which include his major musical influences, his aspirations, and what’s next.
Electronic | B.R.E.E.D – Acidate
Posted by yabishcic on November 6, 2013
I can’t really say that I’ve ever heard anything like this before, so its definitely worth the share. Reminding me of Thriftworks, it gives for a cinematic, acid funk, soul motion sort of music. With so many different sounds to listen to, this track is far from boring. Catch the rest from B.R.E.E.D on the album Binate.
