Los Angeles based producer Jeff Sontag flexes his production and composition muscles on us along with his vocal strings to release his Continuous Journey Mix for his 4.22 EP which sounds more like a movie with nothing but sound more than anything. Straight ambient, and poppy, Jeff paints a dark musical motion picture with underground bass sounds and light rhythms to carry you through the journey. If you’re looking for a vacation and some peace of mind, throw this on your headphones, and have a safe flight! This is a must listen and a must download!

Q-Tip - Work It Out [Stint Remix] SoundCloud | Twitter

Fresh in my inbox, this remix of Q-Tip’s “Work It Out” is going to make some noise and turn some heads, I already know. Unknown to most, but you’ve heard his productions, producing for the likes of Lana Del Rey & Banks, Stint is a Los Angeles/Vancouver producer highly sought after by the industry for his progressive sound and yet has managed to stay under the radar until now! This record is infectious, and does justice to the hip hop legend that is Q-Tip by revisiting this classic. This is a must listen hands down, and I guess we’ll wait for that download button!

Hip-Hop, Rap | Cozz – Dreams (Video)

Posted by on March 11, 2014

Cozz, the newest offspring of the mighty land known as Los Angeles, has waged a full on war against Nissin brand Top Ramen. “Imagine if I stopped rhymin’ and settled for Top Ramen…” the emcee ferociously spits; speaking as if the superb taste and value of the Asian noodle soup is something to be eaten begrudgingly.

In all seriousness, I was quite awe-struck when I first stumbled upon the video for “Dreams”. The conviction and intensity that Cozz packs in to each line is not to be trifled with, nor is it something that one can fake. It is clear that the West-Coast upstart is determined to make these dreams of his a reality, no matter the costs.

Although I’m usually one to let the music speak for itself and leave the statistics at home, it’s important to note the 8,000 plus views that “Dreams” has accrued as his first ever released song, in a single week. I have high hopes for what is next out, and I’m sure you’ll be seeing it up on Fresh New Tracks once again, hopefully accompanied by some more pointless rambling about cheap soup.

DO SOMETHING

Electronic | AWE – Crystals

Posted by on January 27, 2014

After the Annie Mac BBC Radio 1 ripped version of this song was posted, fans have been anxiously waiting for the release of “Crystals” by AWE, a 19 year old producer from Los Angeles. He began working on “Crystals” eight months ago, and it is being released along side a remix of it by Djemba Djemba on Plastician’s label Terrorhythm. Most of his work has a video game influence, and I can hear that in this electronic anthem. Three minutes longer than the radio rip version, this release is mesmerizing. It’s easy to get lost in the synths and repeating melody. Check it out on Beatport and look out for more tracks this year from AWE.

Posted by on October 16, 2013

Yup. It’s that time of year again people. Halloween. Brazzabelle is here with her latest remix of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’, the ultimate Halloween classic. There hasn’t been really any true big-room remix of the song yet that has reached the web so she flipped the classic into a haunting, powerful, hard hitting remix that would dominate a big room or festival stage. Los Angeles livin’, “Brazzabelle has earned prestigious residencies with several nightclubs on the west coast, has been named one of 944 Magazines “leading woman in nightlife”, and has played alongside names such as Martin Solveig, Calvin Harris, Laidback Luke, The Bloody Beetroots, Porter Robinson, and more” so check this chick out!!!

I’ve been listening to  “Fine By Me” by the Academy for a few days, and the truth is it’s a great record. It has a reggae flavor and a dose of retro-funk, I’m feeling it. In my opinion, this hook is a hit, so damn catchy, just a cool vibe. The band is a duo Evan and Eli from Rhode Island whom are currently residing in Los Angeles, and Boston. Hopefully they put out some new tracks some time soon, it’s a great sound! Must listen and must download!

StarRo, an artist from Los Angeles who puts out numerous emotional jazz, R&B, chill, and soul tracks, released this remix of “Goodbye ft. Toki Asako” by Japanese instrumental post-rock band Toe. This remix is expertly crafted and incredibly soothing. The drums and chimes bring in a few exotic sounds and the track is one you will definitely find yourself rocking along to. It’s different, but in a good way. This one’s free to download!
