Mashups, Progressive House | EDX vs. Disclosure – Latch For Life (Jack Eye Jones Club Mash)

edx

Few artists can pull off a quality mashup nowadays. It seems as though those times are over or, at the very least, numbered. Most of the glorious mashup DJ’s from the turn of the decade recognize this and are attempting to transition into original pieces. Sadly, few make it. However, Jack Eye Jones, a master of the original track trade, comes from the other side of the spectrum. Perhaps that’s why he can craft songs like “Latch For Life” and get away with it. The guy has a knack for these mashups so lend this track an ear. And for the snobby folks who refuse to consume inbred works, tune into my favorite Latch remix by Teemid.

And for good measure, my favorite Latch remix…

Progressive House | Local Natives – Black Balloons (lost kings remix)

Local Natives - Black Balloons (lost kings remix)

Lost kings have been two of my favorite producers as of late. Their remix of “Latch” is amazing and remains one of my favorite songs at the moment. Their follow up to that, a remix of Local Native’s “Black Balloons” is equally as impressive. The rolling melody after the slow, piano filled bridge makes for such a powerful drop. As I’ve said in my previous post for them, these two guys are ones to watch.

Disclosure ft. Sam Smith - Latch (lost kings Remix)

A short while back, I was turned on by a fellow male blogger from this very site by the name of Biglife. He turned me onto lost kings, an LA based progressive house duo when he posted their “Best Friends” remix. That remix was good, but their remix of the ever-popular “Latch” is even better. This is the best progressive house remix you will hear of that song. These guys have a great amount of talent.

Trap | Bill Wither – Ain’t No Sunshine (Lido Remix)

Ain't No Sunshine (Lido Remix)Facebook | SoundCloud | Twitter

The infamous Lido from Norway is back with a BIG remix of Bill Wither’s “Ain’t No Sunshine” and did remix justice to the timeless tune by infusing elements of trap, glitch, and overall dopeness! If I were Diplo, I watch my back, Lido is without a doubt on his way to being a household name if he keeps it up! Even major labels like Universal are starting to get worried as you may recall Lido’s “Latch” remix which set the internet on fire, and yet was taken down for copyright infringement. Don’t sleep on this record, this is a must listen!

Electronic | Disclosure – Latch (Lido Remix)

Posted by on April 16, 2014

Less than a week ago I posted a Disclosure remix by up and comer cln. and in doing so, highlighted the importance of originality in these ubiquitous Disclosure remixes in order for them to break the surface, hit the big time, soar to the top of the Hype Machine charts, whatever. After hearing just a mere preview of Lido’s remix, it all became clear to me why this was one of the most anticipated Disclosure remixes in a minute. The Norwegian producer (not pointing any fingers this time) has made a name for himself after planting a seed in the scene long ago with his Cashmere Cat, “Kiss Kiss” remix (for you OG fans out there) and most recently, his rework of Yung Lean’s “Gatorade.”  This “Latch” remix is one of the more light-hearted, warm and fuzzy ones out there, perfect for any setting or time of day. Because, you know, for a second there I almost thought I never wanted to hear “Latch” again for the rest of the forseeable future but Lido really brought back the magic from the first time I heard this track back to life. Keep your eyes peeled for Lido’s EP release via Pelican Fly and your fingers crossed for it to be sooner rather than later.

UPDATE: Apparently Soundcloud was just not having it with this remix, so instead you’ll have to listen to it hear via this slightly sketchy Rinse FM rip, but hey at least it’s something.

With his debut release, Montreal producer Silverback remixes Disclosure’s “Latch” into a gorilla dubstep bass banger, and it’s up for free download. Looking deeper into the man behind the production, Silverback is a well known producer with releases under different labels, who with his latest project wants to let the music do the talking, or in this case the banging. If you were waiting for that festival remix of Disclosure’s “Latch” look no further, this remix’ll have you going gorilla. This is a must listen and a  must download!
