Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Ludacris – 1.21 Gigawatts: Back To The First Time (Mixtape)

Posted by on November 16, 2011

Luda just dropped his Back To The Future mixtape today and I got to say, I’m surprised by the content. The majority of the whole tape’ sounds very Southern, with its slow beats and chopped up hooks, which is surprising from Ludacris, given the electro/pop-rap road he’s taken over the past few years. With features from Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, and Big K.R.I.T. there’s at least one track on here that everyone can enjoy.

Hip-Hop | Drake, Lil Wayne, & Rick Ross | Hip-Hop

This track has DJ Khaled as the main artist, which really pisses me off. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t produce so I can’t see why he gets so much credit. As for the video, I think it speaks for itself, the guy is acting like hes some fitness guru when he has the physique of a penguin. As far as the track goes, I’m glad to see drizzy killing hooks again.

Hip-Hop, Pop | Introducing, Sex Ray Vision

Posted by on March 24, 2011

Sex Ray Vision is a pop/dance band out of Stanford University. The group consists of two computer science majors at Stanford, producer Ravi Parikh and vocalist/songwriter Brian Yoo. They’ve been making music for over a year ever since they met as roommates with a goal of getting you to dance through the power of catchy pop hooks and hot beats. They draw inspiration from Mike Posner, Dr. Luke, Chiddy Bang, and many other contemporary pop acts. These guys have some great stuff, but I will let the people hear for themselves. Their music is available for free at http://sexrayvisionmusic.com.

Hip-Hop | Leon the Professional – Breakfast | Hip-Hop

Posted by on March 20, 2011

Here at FNT we have been following the story of Leon the Professional for a minute now. The thing that has always impressed me about Leon is that he has he innate ability to carry a track with his lyricism rather than catchy hooks. His most recent project, “Breakfast” is perfect example of his unique talent. In his own words:

I feel like this is the embodiment of who I really am. Musically, culturally… I feel like this mixtape really had all the pieces, creativity, and energy that a good music project should. I wrote a lot of good songs and they all had the direction and feel of my bboy culture, and so I figured I mind as well put them into a phat tape!

These are a few of my favorite cuts, but if you are feeling these make sure to head over to his BandCamp page to grab the whole tape.
