Mountain Of Youth has been on my radar since I was introduced to his L A Y L A “Smokestacks” remix, and his latest remix of “Thinkin’ Bout Love” featuring The Night & Jay Z is an underrated, under the radar jam that ya’ll need to hear. It’s so refreshing like ice water, and sometimes that’s all you need to satisfy the mind and body, artificial flavoring is for headaches, so enjoy this organic hip hop deep house remix, and have yourself a great day. This is a must listen and a must download!

Review | RiFF RAFF – NEON iCON

I like RiFF RAFF. It’s no secret. And not in that ironic “hipster” way. I find him infinitely fascinating, and can’t help but cheer for him. Sure, he’s polarizing. Many love him and many hate him. What you have to respect about RiFF RAFF is that he’s not afraid to be his own man. He’s original, hilarious, full of contradictions, and isn’t afraid to live outside the box.

He’s come a long way since his first appearance on “G’s To Gents”. Many dismissed him as a novelty artist, destined to make laughable cameos on World Star. Strangely, Diplo discovered his videos, signed him, and here we are. Come June 24th, RiFF’s appropriately titled “NEON iCON” album drops via Mad Decent, and is arguably the most heavily anticipated record to release in 2014.

RIFF RAFF’s brand of hip-hop is a friendly one. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is a large part of the appeal. There’s something for everyone in RIFF’s music, which is a large reason why he’s been so successful up to this point. Somehow, his music is enjoyed by impressionable young white female teenagers, hip-hop purists, and people who write for Vice and hang out in Brooklyn.

Chill, Electronic | Schoolboy Q – Studio (PromNite Edition)

Posted by on May 14, 2014

“Studio” was hands down my favorite track off Oxymoron, but then again I’m a real sucker for those R&B//rap ballads. I’m also a sucker for just about anything mystery producer PromNite puts out. But hear me out on this remix here – PromNite keeps the deep, smokey vibes first brought to us by Schoolboy and BJ The Chicago Kid and mixes it up with some electronic beats, drums, and a touch of piano to make an even more sultry track that you won’t be able to wait to get down to. Dope.

Sean Leon follows up his last release with a pair of superb examples of the talent coming out of Toronto. Both ‘K4M’ and ‘East District’ are a lot more Hip-Hop than his last release which had a stronger rock influence. 2014 is looking promising as he prepares to unveil his next project BLACK SHEEP Nirvana.

Albums, Featured, Pop | Timeflies – After Hours [Album]

Timeflies After Hours freshnewtracksAfter months of teasers, singles, videos, sold out shows, & of course Timeflies Tuesday’s, Cal and Rez come together to deliver their latest full-length LP, After Hours.  With an independent spirit still instilled in their minds, the Tufts born duo kept the majority of the project organic, leaving the vocals up to Cal and the production on Rez’s plate.  Having said that, Cal did lend the mic to hip-hop’s honorary MC, Fabolous, for a verse on “Fall” as well as the king of auto tune, T-Pain, on “Somebody Gon Get It”.  Private university kids putting out big time records!

Music game Jelly Belly’s – the album contains flavors from a variety of genres.  Pop, hip-hop, electro, country, folk, and just about anything else you can think of.  Their sound is unique, smooth, and on pace with any other mainstream artist/group in the game.  In the scope of life, time certainly does fly, but when you’re waiting on an album like this, it almost feels like the clock is stopped.  Wait no more and grab the iTunes download with enough time to turn up before Timeflies hits your city on their After Hours tour.

Progressive House | Sigma – Nobody To Love (Third Party Remix)

Posted by on April 25, 2014

What started out as a bootleg for the hip-hop classic “Bound 2” by Kanye West turned into an official release for the production duo Sigma. That then was remixed from its drum and bass style into progressive house magic by the UK based duo Third Party. They have not released a whole lot of music recently but they continue to keep the quality of their releases high with this one.
