Ghosts of Our Former Selves are a London based trio made up by singer Theo Brehony, guitarist Sanderson Rocha and producer Fred Ala. Lyrically, the band are lazor-written writers addressing everything from a relationship where time is running out, fathers, living like it’s your last day, internet dating, Trump, Brexit, Glastonbury and the visions in your head. Their new 4-track-EP features 1 original record (the title track “Golden”) 1 cover of Paul Simon’s track (“Mother and Child Reunion”), an acoustic version of “Golden” song and a remix of the same tune by GOOFS and Chicky. A mixture of various sounds and sub-genres, there’s a great vibe on this project that resonates throughout. Check it out above now!

Dance, Pop | WE R OK Bring More Heat to their Debut with Brett and Butter Remix

Posted by on August 21, 2020

Since officially launching their new project in early June, New York based duo WE R OK have been hard at work keeping the hits coming and keeping their fans entertained. Having seen some moderate success on their debut single, “Ghosts“, Frank and Brian (WE R OK) have since delivered two official remixes, while prepping the release of their sophomore offering (due out next Friday).

Having dropped a remix from Boston based producer CHYLD a few weeks ago, they are back once again, this time with a fresh summertime flip from Vancouver based Brett and Butter.

Kicking things up a notch, Brett and Butter has taken the fresh Alternative Jam and turned it into a club ready, melodic, electronic bomb that captures the essence of the original while also taking it in a whole new direction.

With their second single, “Rolling Stoned“, due out next Friday (August 28th), now is the time to lock in and give WE R OK a follow on their socials.

Drum & Bass, Electronic | WE R OK Enlist CHYLD for Official Remix

Posted by on July 14, 2020

Since making their debut in June, New York based dysfunctional duo WE R OK have vowed to keep the heat coming. With their debut single, “Ghosts” racking up over 20k streams in its first month, they have recently sweetened the pot with an official remix from Boston based mad man CHYLD.

With their debut setting the tone for what’s to come, WE R OK deliver a pumping Alt-Rock jam that is as chill as it is haunting. While both parties battle their own demons, the new project is serving as an outlet to get some things off their chest while also exercising their undeniable creative sides.

With the official remix, CHYLD flips the chilled out tune into an energetic, electronic, Drum n Bass inspired jam the speeds up the tempo and helps to kick things up a notch while exposing the brand new group to a much wider audience. Holding onto what made the original so catchy, CHYLD brings in his signature sound design and impressive synth work to warp the tune into something entirely different and fresh.

With another remix and their second single on the horizon, make sure you keep an eye on WE R OK through the rest of the year.

Hip-Hop, Indie | Ash Riser Goes All In With Massive Ghosts LP

Posted by on July 12, 2017

It’s not often you see seventeen singles on an LP from an independent artist. That didn’t matter to producer/emcee Ash Riser whose Ghosts album comes in deep with that many tracks. From start to finish, he doesn’t disappoint in the slightest. Ghosts provides variety and skill that is unmatched by most artists today. As you may imagine from the name and cover art, this project is steeped with dark tones and a certain savage edge to it that must be experienced. It’s not often you sit back and absorb a whole album, but do do so with this massive LP.

As if Dabin’s original single “Touch” with Daniela Andrade wasn’t beautiful enough, Kannibalen Records enlists three remixes for the magnificent musical specimen. As you can expect from the Kannibalen crew, they diversify the EP with sounds ranging from club-friendly side, to the headphones and chill side. Kicks N Licks bring the bass with their dubby interpretation that plays towards a festival friendly style. Ghosts, who already has a strong catalog of quality remixes, adds another with one of the most sensational house tracks that has graced the deeper side of the genre. Lastly, Imagined Herbal Flows brings a downtempo future remix that rounds out the EP quite nicely. Dabin and company only brought three tracks to the table, but they weren’t messing around with their choices. Suffice to say, the Touch Remixes EP is definitely worth the purchase price!

Spinnin’ Records is having a big summer. So are the UK’s Higher Self, as they’ve just announced that “Ghosts” featuring Lauren Mason is set to release October 20th on the house that Oliver Heldens built. Speaking of Oliver Heldens, “Ghosts” was previewed on “Heldeep Radio 14” and The Magician’s “ The Magic Tape 45 ” which is no small accomplishment. Call it Nu-Bass. Call it Future House. Call it what you want. “Ghosts” from Higher Self and Lauren Mason is a prepped to be a certified smash.

19 year old Swiss producer Sebastian Carter never disappoints when it comes to shedding light on unknown talent by releasing remixes that intensify vibes and emotions from the original. “Ghosts” by Emily Underhill received that same treatment, and the bass is what’s going to keep you warm in these sub-zero temperatures. If they had a fireplace and a hot chocolate maker at work (or wine), I’d be laying back by the fire with a cup in hand, reading a book, forgetting about the world to this beautiful piece of work by Sebastian. Add this one to your chill playlist, and get that free download! Must listen!
