Dubstep | R Rated #45
Posted by Sev on September 5, 2012
Another week, means another Wednesday, which means another R-Rated. We are on edition #45 and we aren’t planning on slowing down anytime soon.
To kick things off we have an EP preview of an upcoming artist and FNT favorite, KillaGraham. It was about time a record label cleaned out their ears and signed this amazing artist after all his hardwork so far. Looks like Never Say Die just strengthened their artist base even more with this awesome edition. So much originality is pouring out from this artist it makes listening to his music refreshing and you can hear it all in this EP, because none of it sounds like anything you would hear from any other artist.
Tom Budin is another artist I have been keeping an eye on for quite sometime now, and this remix is ridiculous once again. After his terrorizing remix of Pendulum’s Tarantula I didn’t see him beating that remix personally, but I was wrong once again. He tends to stray away from the Reggae vibes a little on this remix and dives straight in for that nasty, grimy sound. So the first 100 people get a free download which means you need to get there before it is too late and be ready to vote for this amazing artist when the Beatport Remix competition voting opens up on Sept.19th.
Just featured on R-Rated two weeks ago, Truth is back on the R-Rated hit list once again. This duo has been bringing some funky vibes lately and it has been catching my attention every time I surf around Soundcloud. This track is also part of their first installment of free releases for their “Love Shadow’s” Album which has been split into EP’s and is all being released for FREE! This track has some awesome Deep style vibes with some hollow sounding synths giving off that underground dubstep sound that we used to hear so much of a few years ago. To listen to the rest of the first free EP click HERE.
This collaboration from RealTalK and Symbiotic is another heavy addition to this weeks R-Rated. Both of these bass bumping artists teamed up to create this fast paced drumstep track to lay their fans out during their shows. Bringing the heavy bass; this tracks gets grimy and fast so prepare yourselves mentally before you press play.
Why Ellie Goulding’s voice complements dubstep so well I have no idea, but given that this official remix from Draper is one of a kind. Given that Sound Remedy’s remix is hard to compete with because its melodic and a banger at the same time, this one is a close second. I know this track technically shouldn’t be in R-Rated because it is more liquid that heavy, but I just couldn’t help myself. This track is a way to settle you guys down after pumping you guys with adrenaline through all the heavy hitters before it, so just press play and enjoy the sounds.
Dubstep, Electro-House, Review | Zomboy – The Dead Symphonic EP
Posted by Mach on September 3, 2012
Zomboy has outdone himself, something that to my own disappointment in myself, I thought was not possible. To honor this great masterpiece, I REFUSE TO RELATE ZOMBOY TO SKRILLEX. Ah, feels good to get that out there. As similar as their styles are, Zomboy produces significantly different than the Dubstep tycoon. Zomboy actually has gone much heavier in his productions, something that Sev and I thoroughly enjoy. I have so much to say about this EP, but I know the last thing anyone wants to do is read for hours. My top three tracks from the EP are “Nuclear,” “Vancouver Beatdown,” and “Gorilla March.”
“Nuclear” is a wild Reggae/Drumstep track. The vibes that follow with this filthy track make you glad it wasn’t a short listen. “Vancouver Beatdown” is one of the heavier dance tunes that I am actually able to enjoy. A lot of producers just think that because they added in heavy synths and bass that people will love it. Sadly people will, because that style distracts people from the fact that the track has no creativity. Thankfully that isn’t the case for this sweet Electro-House tune. Lastly, “Gorilla March,” oh my god. This track makes you want to start moshing hardcore, turn this heater up as high as you can and throw down like never before. My three favorites in no way reflect how massive of a release this truly is. Zomboy is officially a god for this EP, he has set an incredible standard.

Dubstep | Frank Ocean – Pyramids (Baratone Remix)
Posted by Mach on September 1, 2012
Hip-Hop fans be warned because you will probably hate this. On the other hand, Dubstep fans you are about to cream your pants. I not once expected this track to be remixed, now that it has been all want to do it click play over and over again. Frank Ocean is the true mastermind behind “Pyramids,” but I have to give a big shout to Baratone for the work they did with it. Baratone’s debut EP is dropping in just two days on September 3rd, this remix has definitely got me intrigued.
Dubstep | R Rated #44

Our friends over at Bass Union really brought the heat, you know, “The Power Of Fire.” Terravita has been taking names with all the remixes he has been releasing this year, it was about time we got some bomb originals. The track-list in order from the video above is “This Time It’s Personal,” “Well Oiled Machine,” “No Room,” “Motive Unnecessary,” “metROIDS.” “metROIDS” is available for free download via Terravita’s Facebook. I would say the most anticipated track of this EP is the behemoth, “Well Oiled Machine,” but after listening to this teaser it has to be all of the five tracks. “The Power Of Fire” EP drops in just a few days on September 4th.
We have another upcoming EP, but this one’s release depends all on the fans making sure Deadpool Dubstep hits his goal of 2000 likes on Facebook. Like the rest of us that enjoy R Rated, Deadpool Dubstep is filth feind, and this soon to be free EP of his does more than reflect that taste. The EP title “Armory” is the perfect name to outline the tracks contained within. Don’t be shy, and like the s#!t out of his facebook page.
This next track is a huge tease, the name is “Free,” but we can’t have it yet. This also leaves me slightly disappointed in myself for making people have to click ‘Read On’ for the actual free downloads of this weeks R Rated. Back to this track though, Virtual Riot is the creator of one of favorite tracks of 2012, “Superhuman.” Since then, I hate to say it, but he hasn’t come close to that standard. This instrumental makes me think otherwise now, and I really hope he adds some sexy female vocals, just enough to send this track over the edge of awesomeness.

Alternative, Indie, Videos | Connor Zwetsch – The Little Things (Video)
Posted by J_Salzer on August 25, 2012
FNT’s own Connor Zwetsch hits us with her newest video offering. I have a little bias when I say this, because Connor is from my hometown, and is a close friend, but I think she has one of the best, most unique voices out right now. Her covers are insane, while her original stuff always has hard hitting lyrics, and smooth instrumentals played by Connor herself. She has a single releasing soon, with an EP to follow. Make sure you like her facebook page below to stay updated, but if you’re too lazy to do that, have no fear, FNT will always get you the scoop.
Dubstep | Teknian – Acacia
Posted by Sev on August 24, 2012
Over the past few months Teknian has been under my radar as an uprising producer on the cusp of storming the EDM scene. Creating some darring, groundbreaking tunes this talent has been producing some of the best of quality tracks the past few months. Finishing up his EP for Inspected, we can only wait and see what outstanding music he unleashes for us. In the meantime as part of a free EP from Biosphere Recordings we get this awesome serene sounding, dark influenced banger for FREE. Grab this track along with the others off of Biosphere Recordings Facebook HERE.
Drum & Bass | DnB Fridays
Posted by Sev on August 17, 2012
As if the original wasn’t great enough, this DnB remix by Mattix and Futile takes this track to the next level. Keeping things simple, but not boring, these guys definitely filled in all the gaps for me that were left in this track and completed the EP.
Big ups to W8 for finding this awesome DnB tune. He nailed it with this uplifting original tune from Neutralize featuring vocals from Emily Underhill.
Another uplifting tune steering away from the heavy Dnb, but not too liquid either. This awesome futuristic sounding drum and bass never gets old and always brings me to a state of euphoria.
This one changes the mood a little to a more jungle styled dnb. This reminds me of some of the older dnb that used to be produced a few years back. Nothing too fancy, but fast paced enough to get the crowd going.
Last but not list I recommend everyone pre-order this awesome dnb compilation releasing from one of Mach and I’s favorite labels, InfraRed Music. Veteran artist Wickaman has been tearing apart the dnb scene through this label lately and all of his tracks are absolutely crazy.
