95 Royale - Take Me Back (I'll Do Whatever It Takes)The young gun, 95 Royale, is preparing for his next EP release that is two weeks. He has been pushing to make a name for himself in Disco-House and honestly, I don’t see why more people aren’t catching onto his uplifting dance vibes. “Take Me Back” is a great track to bring it back, Disco that is. I love the soulfulness you feel from the vocals and instrumentals, another perfect track from 95 Royale. His “Deli Luvin” EP drops on June 24th.

Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Electronic, Progressive House, Trap | Tristam – Truth (The Remixes)

Posted by on June 5, 2013

Yet again, Monstercat unleashes another amazing remix EP. Tristam’s track ‘Truth’ was released late last year and it seems as though he was busy rounding up some outstanding remixes the past few months. The original was a stand out track on its own with some amazing vocals and an overall great Electro-House track. This remix EP has some big names on it alongside some newer talent.  As far as the heavier hitting remixes go, we have on from Candyland, Dabin, and Xkore. Candyland and Dabin gives us two different interpretations of the track with Dabin going for a more melodic style, while Candyland gives us the heavier dubstep remix. Xkore on the other hand unleashes a fast paced Drum & Bass remix that is sure to get you out of your seat with some aggressive growl sounds like no other. It was a surprising seeing Anna Yvette’s name as a remixer for one of the tracks, because we are so used to seeing her on the vocals.  Either way she did an amazing job creating a trap remix to the track. Last but not least we have Filtercrush and The Dirty Tee’s who both gave us two different House styled remixes. As usual we get nothing but quality from Monstercat and this remix EP still holds to that.

DO SOMETHING

Dubstep, Electro, Hip-Hop | SuperVision – Telekinetic EP

Posted by on June 4, 2013

SuperVision - Telekinetic EPAh, another treat from the good old Pretty Lights Music label. SuperVision has always been a favorite of mine from the label, maybe even slightly more so than Pretty Lights himself. This new EP from SuperVision played better than I anticipated, the opening track “Super Like Vision” was the coolest way to kick off. It is definitely my favorite track from the EP. The rest of “Telekinetic” is just as tasteful, providing a little bit of Hip-Hop and soulful vibes throughout. Definitely a great download.

Dubstep | Destroid – Raise Your Fist (PatrickReza Remix)

Posted by on June 4, 2013

Destroid - Raise Your Fist (PatrickReza Remix)Destroid’s new EP didn’t wow me, but this is the heaviest track I have heard from PatrickReza. Sev and I have been talking a lot about Neuro-hop and how it is sneaking its way onto the bass scene. I never imagined PatrickReza doing a track like this, but it gives me hope for the rising genre. Definitely a killer remix, hope it places in the remix competition.

Hip-Hop, Rap, Videos | Raz Simone – These Kids Throw Rocks

Posted by on June 3, 2013

“She got a big booty, so I call her big booty.”
“Popped a molly, I’m sweatin’, woo!”
“You say no to rachet pussy, Juicy J can’t.”

What do these three lines have in common? They are all some of the most widely recited and remembered lines in hip-hop these past few months. What else do they have in common? They have absolutely zero substance, thought, or profundity to them.

Raz Simone on the other hand takes a different approach to his music. With careful thought and emotion poured in to each line, listeners are drawn in and kept hooked throughout every song, mixtape and album. After the success of his most recent EP, Solomon Samuel Simone, Raz decided to take to the camera and capture more in depth one of the offerings from the tape.

The video for “These Kids Throw Rocks” has hit the internet and is quite impressive.

Here’s what Raz had to say: “This video is self directed and edited for a more personal approach to visualize the song. After recent events in my life the lyrics hit even harder than when I initially wrote them.”

I hope you enjoy and be sure to grab the full Solomon Samuel Simone EP here, if you haven’t already!

Hip-Hop | Kid Ink — Money and the Power

This kid has been around for awhile, but honestly I was just never compelled enough by what I had heard of him on features to give him a full listen. Last week he released his major label debut in the form of a six-track EP, Almost Home, which features the likes of Wale, Meek Mill, Rico Love, and French Montana, and after seeing that his song “Money and the Power” was getting a fair amount of praise, I decided to check him out. This is by far my favorite song off the project — it has an incredibly upbeat, catchy, and pop-oriented beat produced by N4 and longtime collaborator Ned Cameron, and Kid Ink has enough lyrical chops and charisma to win me over. He also, unexpectedly, has a pretty good singing voice. Take a listen below, and if you’re interested, you can find his full EP on iTunes here.
