Progressive House | Michael Brun – Gravity EP
Posted by Middy on September 23, 2013
FNT favorite, Michael Brun finally releases the EP he has long been saying would be coming this year. He has tweaked each track and made many different versions of each before deciding on which one would be final copy for the EP. He has done remixes for the likes of Calvin Harris & Dirty South this year, with another coming for Alicia Keys, but it was time to get back to originals.
The EP starts off with clubby, groovy dance floor stomper “Antares” and is followed by the highlight and most-anticipated track of the EP, “Halfway” featuring the angelic vocals of Zashanell, is the peak-time melodic weapon we have come to expect with him. The EP is all capped off by “Gravity”.

Dubstep | SirensCeol – The Ocean Feat Alissa Dawson
Posted by BP on September 16, 2013

SirensCeol released a new EP called “The Ocean” to Beatport a few days ago, and I have to say this is my favorite track on the EP. It’s catchy, nostalgic and has been stuck in my head since I first heard it! The drop is full of growls and mechanical noises and topped with rising synths. The pacing in the song seems to be just a bit different than most dubstep tracks. The whole EP is cool so check it out!
Chill, Trap | Gilbre Forte – Nolita (The Ninetys Edit)
Posted by BP on September 14, 2013

Here’s a sweet free remix from The Ninetys for your weekend playlist! This remix of “Nolita” by Gilbre Forte is mesmerizing and expertly produced. The Ninetys just has a way with percussion that makes my ears very happy. This trap track is breathtaking and easy to get lost in. The Ninetys will be releasing an EP on October 7th and this song is proof that we should all be excited!
House, Indie | Zanski x Bombs And Bottles – On Gold
Posted by BP on September 12, 2013

“On Gold” is the second track on Zanski and Bombs And Bottles two song EP called “We Built This City”. It’s composed of two tracks that contain the same base structure, but one is mixed and mastered by Zanski and one by Bombs And Bottles. I had trouble categorizing this track and eventually landed on something like neuro indie house…ish. It’s very unique and very ear pleasing despite the genre placement troubles. The vocals are really a standout and it’s free for us to download!
Mix | NEST HQ MiniMix: Phonat
Posted by J-Tiffy on September 12, 2013

Phonat is an amazing artist. His latest six song EP “Identity Theft” contained some of the most creative, technical, and forward-thinking contemporary music available, in my opinion. It houses songs ranging from dark and chilling, to ambient, to funky and bright. Phonat’s music pushes boundaries without sacrificing sophistication. More recently, he crafted a remix for Andrew Bayer’s excellent track, “Need Your Love“, which rivalled the brilliance of the original. His funky, soulful, and glicthy futuristic sound is addictive and inspiring.
This mix is a masterpiece. Phonat moves with ease between genres – all accented by his innovative yet accessible sound. It is an impossibly smooth compilation of deep house, euphoric dubstep, soul, and Phonat’s own brand of future sound. The songs and sounds are carefully selected, and the transitions are beyond slick. He has created a mix that whisks you on away and takes you on an adventure.
Along with this mix, The Nest HQ posted an interview with the man in question; Michele Balduzzi. The mix is free to download, and I very highly recommend that you do so.
Electronic, Videos | MØ x Diplo – XXX 88
Posted by mimada on September 10, 2013

While certain big-name female celebrities continue to slowly chip away at the world’s image of a role model woman (not pointing any fingers this time), 2013 has fortunately reeled some incredibly talented female acts into the spotlight who go above and beyond to compensate for the wreckage. See: Banks, Jessie Ware, Charli XCX, Lorde, Aluna Francis, just to name a few. And adding to the list I present to you my latest female vocalist of interest, Danish electro-pop songstress MØ (pronounced “moo”). Take one part Scandinavian sweetheart, one part sultry temptress, top it off with a fat gold chain and a ponytail and you’ll get this bonafide badass singer. Check out the video premier of her latest track titled “XXX 88,” produced by the one and only Diplo and you’ll get a feel for what I mean. And if you still want mo’ MØ, keep an eye out for her EP and album release later this season.
