Albums, Events | Spring Awakening Music Festival 5-year Anniversary | June 10-12
Posted by Meezy on June 6, 2016
Come Friday, June 10th, Spring Awakening Music Festival (SAMF) will be celebrating its five-year anniversary by throwing a 3-day party with a hefty lineup of artists. In addition to an impressive bill of performers, SAMF has recently revealed the layout of the new festival grounds, which look equally impressive. The festival contains 2 gorgeous stages, 2 tent structures and a silent disco. In years prior the festival took place at Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears… however, for the first time, SAMF will take place at Addams/Medill Park, which is a short 3 miles west of the old venue. The new location and festival grounds allow for more accommodations and a more maneuverable landscape for attendees… an idea that excites us all.
News | The Indy 500 Snake Pit has been released and it’s Huge!

“The Indy 500 Snake Pit Presented by Coors Light is proud to announce the official lineup for 2016! Global electronic music icon SKRILLEX will headline, along with support by fast-rising superstar MARTIN GARRIX, popular acts ZEDS DEAD, and West Coast hip-hop producer, DJ MUSTARD. The Snake Pit will take place over Memorial Day Weekend, on Sunday, May 29th, during the monumental 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 Presented by PennGrade Motor Oil at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.” (via ReactPresents)
The biggest race in the States now has one of the biggest lineups to match it. The Snake Pit, which takes place on the infield of the historic racing site, is becoming one of the main attractions for the race. With names like Skrillex and Zeds Dead for this year, and others such as A-Trak, Steve Aoki, and Kaskade playing in years past, its easy to understand why it’s becoming so popular. May 29th cannot come soon enough: Memorial Day, racing, and loud music, it doesn’t get any better than this. Follow the link here and below to purchase tickets now!
Preview | Zeds Dead & Oliver Heldens – You Know
Posted by BIGLIFE on January 9, 2015
Coming as no news to us, Zeds Dead (who confirmed the collaboration at Lights All Night) and Oliver Heldens preview their “You Know” collaboration due out February 2nd on Spinnin’ Records. You know what grinds my gears? We had the scoop two weeks before anyone else. Of course, other blogs get the credit. Doesn’t matter though, we love to get too deep, and we’ll continue to bring the exclusives.
Can you guess the sample? It goes something like this.

FYI | Uncovering Spinnin’s “You Know” ID
Posted by BIGLIFE on January 1, 2015
“You Know” has been floating around the web for quite some time. It was first announced as a collaboration between Oliver Heldens and Mike Mago, and teased in various mixes and “Heldeep Radio” episodes. It even had album art floating around. Names were thrown out (mostly by fans) and “Feelings” seemed to stick for a while, especially on 1001Tracklists.com. Last weekend, we attended Lights All Night in Dallas and had the opportunity to catch a Zed’s Dead set, which was impressively varied.
While watching the set, Zeds Dead played “You Know” an announced that “this was their new sh*t with Oliver Heldens” which we live-tweeted. It caught us completely off guard, but were excited to get that confirmation. Whether it’s a Oliver Heldens, Mike Mago, and Zeds Dead collaboration remains to be seen. Spinnin’ is understandably tight-lipped about the record. What we do know is that it’s a big record and we can’t wait for more information to become available. Keep your eye on this space.
“You Know” is available on February 2nd.
Dubstep | Trespassers William – Different Stars (The Killabits Remix)
Posted by BP on April 29, 2014
Finally, some good dubstep! Sadly, The Killabits have decided that they are not going to produce music together anymore. This is the last song, unfortunately. “Different Stars” originally by Trespassers William is an emotional capstone to this duo’s music. Guitars wail along this melodic beauty while the vocals are kept it tact. The bassline brings me directly to thinking of Zeds Dead. This remix is such a graceful end. It’s worth a listen.
