Progressive House | Arias – Solar
Posted by Middy on June 25, 2013
With productions like Andromeda, Majoris & Pegasus under his belt in 2013, the underrated, resurgant Parisian, Arias returns with another celestially themed track on his newly launched label Olympia Records. With a relentless, churning low end, pulsing synth chords, a fast paced arp and a pitched top line, “Solar” comes together with heart racing builds and drops, weaving together the many elements of the track into one seamless piece of music. He may not get all the hype and attention, but his productions are top of the line. We are excited to see what the future brings for this producer who has a keen ear for forward thinking dance music.

Having just released “Layers” yesterday, the melodic master, Eric Prydz, returns to his Pryda moniker and reaches into the vault for one of his most requested tracks and finishes it off for release on Monday. “Rotonda” has been a cult favorite for years now and having been played out in its full form in EPIC Radio 008, we are now on the cusp of its release. With this coming on Monday, “Layers” released yesterday and his “Let Me Feel” dub set for release soon, Pryda is making his statement about the summer he will be having. You may notice it has the same artwork as “Layers”, because the 25th release was split up into 25 and 25.5 over two Mondays.

Posted by Middy on June 14, 2013
We have had them on before, LA based duo, by ways of Australia, The Stafford Duo are back with another episode of their radio show, Something Big. We have partnered with the entrepreneurial duo to present Michael Jordan’s episode of their show with German vet, Moguai on the guest mix. During his guest mix Moguai unveils the curtains on the process behind some of his most prized recent tracks, including possibly the biggest track of the year thus far “Mammoth”, his own single on Size Records “Champs”, and more. He also reveals info on collabs with Tiesto, Moby and a big pop singer in Germany that he says is one of favorites to date.
The Stafford Brothers are more than DJs / producers. They own several nightclubs back home in Australia, they have their own reality TV show, which is licensed in Australia, South America, Canada and Europe. They are the first dance music acts to be signed to Cash Money Records and their first single “Hello” has gone double platinum in Australia. We had the chance to ask ask them a few questions about their busy lives, Cash Money Records, the future and more. Interview and tracklist after the jump.
House | BOY – Skin (Dinnerdate ‘Campfire’ Edit)
Posted by Middy on June 14, 2013
Simon Shout announced a few months back that he was working on a side project that was something special, something different and we saw a few weeks ago the fruition of that hard work, Dinner Date. It is the deeper, less intense side of his sound that vibes with a lot of what we are seeing in the sort of counter-edm movement that has brought deep house into vogue and guys like Disclosure, Flume and Cashmere Cat so popular. In his second remix, he keeps the indie vibe of the original, with its playful guitar licks, while adding his own easy, deep, rolling bass line that does not overwhelm, but helps guide the track to its thoughtful conclusion. Also included is his previous remix. Be on the lookout for more Dinner Date, and put this on late night and let the soothing sounds carry you into a peaceful place.

Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Electronic, Progressive House, Trap | Tristam – Truth (The Remixes)
Posted by Sev on June 5, 2013
Yet again, Monstercat unleashes another amazing remix EP. Tristam’s track ‘Truth’ was released late last year and it seems as though he was busy rounding up some outstanding remixes the past few months. The original was a stand out track on its own with some amazing vocals and an overall great Electro-House track. This remix EP has some big names on it alongside some newer talent. As far as the heavier hitting remixes go, we have on from Candyland, Dabin, and Xkore. Candyland and Dabin gives us two different interpretations of the track with Dabin going for a more melodic style, while Candyland gives us the heavier dubstep remix. Xkore on the other hand unleashes a fast paced Drum & Bass remix that is sure to get you out of your seat with some aggressive growl sounds like no other. It was a surprising seeing Anna Yvette’s name as a remixer for one of the tracks, because we are so used to seeing her on the vocals. Either way she did an amazing job creating a trap remix to the track. Last but not least we have Filtercrush and The Dirty Tee’s who both gave us two different House styled remixes. As usual we get nothing but quality from Monstercat and this remix EP still holds to that.

Events | Electric Zoo Phase 3 Lineup Announcement
Posted by Middy on June 4, 2013
Made Event’s Electric Zoo has announced the third phase of its lineup, filling in the blanks on stages outside of the two mainstages. There have been a few additions to the mainstages, like Deniz Koyu, Henrix and Vicetone, two guys we are really proud to see make to the MainStage. This round fills in the rest of the label and style specific tents like the Sunday School Groove tent, where you will find your dance music snobs and underground aficionados posted up all three days, the Riverside Tent, hosting Dim Mak, Dog Blood vs OWLSA & Fools Gold with names like Olver, RL Grime, Jacques Lu Cont, Alvin Risk, Congorock, & Yolande be Cool all in support.
One stage that is very interesting is the Hilltop Stage because of the eclectic nature of the artists each day. At first it seems like there is no rhyme or reason for the choices there, but depending on set times, it could be one of the best stages because of the transitions from uplifting trance in John O’Callaghan to a guy like Torro Torro and then to Bauuer, all within three time slots. It is a little disappointing to not see a trance stage, but with guys like Orjan Nilsen, Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Khoma and Aly & Fila on the MainStage, trance will be just fine. Also many trance stages at US festivals have devolved into electro / big room sets with a smattering of trance sprinkled in, so it is not surprising to see one not there. There are still tickets on sale, with single day passes now being made available, and there are still a few artists to come, so be on the lookout for that. Grab your tickets here. Check the full lineup after the jump.
