Trance | Monoverse Live At PACHA NYC 11-08-2014

Posted by on November 11, 2014

Your headliner is winding down. You consistently check your watch. Yup, it’s almost 5am. Do you stay or do you call it a night? All of a sudden it transitions to the closing DJ and he begins like this:

You take in your surroundings; it’s dark but you don’t need light for this. You start moving with the bassline, first your legs, then your arms – you’re engulfed in a sea of shufflers – the rave has begun.

Closing down one of the hottest night clubs in the Big Apple isn’t a privilege that should be taken for granted and Monoverse only adds to the calibre of talent that Pacha regularly showcases. By taking us deep into the rabbit hole, Monoverse refused to slow down this past weekend by any means and spoon fed hard hitting trance and techno to satisfy the 5am cravings of these enduring trance warriors. He couldn’t stop there – no, forgetting about his fans worldwide would just be rude, so it would only make sense that a man as humble as Monoverse would do us right and give away this set for free.

Based out of New York, Santos Torres is a producer, a DJ, and an entrepreneur as a founder of the recently established Amped Artists. While the imprint itself is still young, it has already seen success and support from powerful players such as Myon & Shane 54, Jaytech, Super8 & Tab, Tucandeo, Tom Fall, and Rank 1. He also hosts a monthly radio show, every second Monday of each month, on Afterhours.FM. He has work ethic and vision, two crucial ingredients for success.

So here it is, welcome to a night in the life of Monoverse:

Progressive House | Local Natives – Black Balloons (lost kings remix)

Local Natives - Black Balloons (lost kings remix)

Lost kings have been two of my favorite producers as of late. Their remix of “Latch” is amazing and remains one of my favorite songs at the moment. Their follow up to that, a remix of Local Native’s “Black Balloons” is equally as impressive. The rolling melody after the slow, piano filled bridge makes for such a powerful drop. As I’ve said in my previous post for them, these two guys are ones to watch.

Electro-House | Chris Avantgarde – Fuel

Chris Avantgarde - Fuel

Chris Avantgarde inaugurates his newly formed label the proper way with an exceptionally strong first release. Produced by the founder himself, “Fuel” is a powerful, gritty, highly energetic track and probably his best to date. It is also one of the most well produced tracks I have heard in a while. Chris has a unique sound and his label is also unique, because all of their releases are free of charge. Never one to settle on generic, Chris Avantgarde and his new label are sure to be among those to watch going forward.

Albums, Interviews | Just Blaze DjCityTV Interview

DJCity | YouTube

Shout out to DJCity for sending over their latest interview with Just Blaze! Having met the veteran legendary producer a few weeks ago, and hearing the man speak the truth on the current state of the music scene, and his transition into the DJ realm, I felt the need to share this. I had a chance to catch him live in Miami, as he filled in for a set after Kaytranada, and I can tell you for a fact the man does more than push buttons, going as far as beatboxing on the mic when the sound system accidentally shut off, to keep the party going! Respect to DJCity, and respect to Just Blaze! This is a must watch interview!

Hip-Hop, Rap | Joey Purp – Don’t Stop

Posted by on May 31, 2014

By this time, most of you should be familiar with the Chicago rap-group by the name of Save Money. After the success of frontman Chance the Rapper, the floodgates were opened for the Save Money team. Vic Mensa soon followed in suit, achieving a coveted spot on the XXL Freshman cover, and slowly making his way to the mainstream.

Now, all eyes are peeled waiting for the next talented artist to burst out of the Chicago bubble. Could it be Joey Purp? Quite possibly. He provides an exemplary juxtaposition of Chicago drill music, combatting the violence in the city and doing his part to make a positive impact. While at the same time his voice does not blend in with those of Chance and Vic, making it more interesting and less recycled.

Watch above his newest offering, “Don’t Stop”. I could make a pun here about replaying the song and not stopping it, but I’ll refrain. You’re welcome.
