Dubstep, Mixtapes | Bassnectar – Freestyle Mixtape & News On Upcoming EP
Posted by Mach on October 3, 2012
Bassnectar is and always will be the King of Dubstep, no one can seem to follow his style, he is literally an unstoppable force. This new mixtape of his is full of and based off of his unreleased and upcoming EP, “Freestyle,” dropping October 16th. Only days away!!! F^@K, Bassnectar owns this mixtape, he even has some Trap on here, which I hate. Bassnectar shows how Trap is to be done, it’s not Moombahton! For Gods sake, all Trap is, is just bad Moombahton, Trap is part of Purple Bass music, look it up and take notes. He isn’t the King just because he is famous, Bassnectar is the King of Bass because he knows exactly what he is doing and he constantly proves that.
I can’t begin to talk about every single track on here so I will keep it simple until his new EPs release. I will just mentions my favorites because they are clearly the most amazing tracks in this mixtape…in my opinion of course. I will even do the favor of mentioning the time periods to which they reside on this mix. First track on the mix I liked is “Freestyle” (1:46-4:00), it is in fact Dubstep but contains a bit of the Trap I was talking about. Second, “Jigga Up (Bassnectar Remix),” (11:11-15:07), its long, isn’t that great? Who doesn’t love those rasta vibes, hell knows I love them. Third, “Manhattan Bound (Bassnectar Remix),” (15:08-16:43), let me just start by saying I love Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, their style should be used and remixed more, it is something you just don’t see enough these days. Fourth, “Bassnectar & DC Breaks – Breathless feat. Mimi Page,” (23:45-26:18), this may be one to add to Bassnectar’s greatest, DC Breaks have had a hand in greats of his before and this just further proves their incredible chemistry. Last, “Ed Solo – Egyptian Horns (Bassnectar Remix),” (32:49-34:40, not including vocal samples), this remix may never release. Bassnectar is known for his countless unreleased remixes, this remix being one that is one of the most sick to never be obtained by any of us.
Long, though my write up is, this mixtape is well worth the listen. If you dont feel like reading at least consider the time periods I posted about to the mixtape, they should be listened to even if you don’t finish the mix.
Mashups, Mixtapes | DOSVEC – The Dance Games Saga, Return To Campus
Posted by Mach on September 4, 2012
DOSVEC has created a mini-mix series, “The Dance Games Saga,” that is a play off of the “Hunger Games.” Each mix will consist of unreleased mashups that DOSVEC has made either on the side or specifically for the mixes. His first mini-mix of the series has an appropriate name to suit the time we are all experiencing, “Return To Campus.” The mix is a little less than 30 minutes long but contains many party fueled mashups. Not a bad back to school pre-gaming mix to get you pumped for the first weekends parties. The instrumentals will be a little harder to recognize compared to the vocals that will have you belting along the way of the mix.

Dubstep, Electro, Electro-House | Feed Me – Annie Nightingale BBC Radio 1 Mix

Last Saturday Feed Me appeared on Annie Nightingale’s BBC Radio 1 show. The show consisted of this 20 minute mix that Feed Me was nice enough to post on his Soundcloud for everyone. His mix contains many new tracks of his that he has been working on recently. This mix is incredible, it is such a treat for fans when an artist goes and plays this many unreleased works together. Feed Me is a class act, definitely one of favorites to listen to and see perform live. I hope this mix means he has something releasing soon.

Dubstep | HALLYWOOD X – Rescue Me (Original Mix)

If you follow the small, bespectacled powerhouse better known as Sonny Moore, you’ll remember when this video dropped back in February, and you’ll also remember the frenzy that it stirred up on the Interwebs. The line between man and beast blurred as crazed Skrillex fans scrambled to pin down the ID for the song playing in the background. Was it a new collaboration? Unreleased Alvin Risk? Or was it simply another one of the many, many unfinished tracks gathering dust on Skrillex’s harddrive? Unfortunately, the trail rapidly dried up, and ranks of once-steadfast YouTube commenters gradually began to accept that they would never learn the name of the infectiously catchy song with the thrilling lasers and fierce wobbles.
Until four days ago. When a full, high-quality version of the song materialized without any warning whatsoever, as if by the very hand of God. No, this was no Alvin track — it was in fact brought into this world by one HALLYWOOD X, who has been a member of Soundcloud for exactly one week and might prove to be nothing more than a wonderful, glorious mirage. I’m not sure, friends, but I look forward to following him in the days ahead as anyone who can credibly be mistaken for Skrillex and Alvin Risk is clearly someone to watch carefully. Head to HALLYWOOD X’s Soundcloud for two more excellent remixes (of Diplo/Usher’s “Climax” and “Spectrum” — tis the season, after all).
