Electro-House, Progressive House | Nicky Romero & ZROQ – WTF!?

Posted by on May 28, 2012

Nicky Romero is back at it again, but this time with a little help from ZROQ, releasing their new single WTF!? The wait from UMF nearly killed me. Watching the stream of Nicky dropping this track just sent me over the top as well as with the crowd. He has yet to disappoint me with his releases, and the fact that he brings his own hard hitting electro style to house music makes me favor him even more because he strives to put himself on a different level from his colleagues. Providing us with an amazing Nicky Romero intro we love so much, that slowly builds its way to an over-the-top, electro styled drop that leaves you in a state of “WTF!?”.  Nicky Romero will be a force to be reckoned with this year, and this is only a taste of what is to come. You can grab this track on Beatport HERE.

Electro-House, Progressive House | The Joy Formidable – A Heavy Abacus (Qulinez Remix)

Posted by on April 26, 2012

Above is the first episode of Size TV, where you get to meet Qulinez as well as the rest of the Size family.
The Swedish Duo, Qulinez have given us another release to add to your collection along side their trend setting single “Troll”. This track capitalizes on the success of “Troll”, continuing with much of the same, unique sound that “Troll” established. The track gives you their unique high pitch synths leading into a bass driven drop with growling synths underneath. Tiesto dropped this bad boy at Ultra for all of you UMF attendees so think back to that moment and you will rush to get this track. The vocals are incredible and are used perfectly.
Also check out a remix of their coming out on Monday that combines a little dub with electro house.
After the jump is a great FREE original track from Diego Camejo using the vocal from Simians Vocals – We Are Your Friends that has a Big Room / Festival vibe to it with synthy build and a simple, high energy, bass driven drop.

DJ-Set, Dubstep, Electro | Knife Party @ UKF’s 3rd Birthday

Posted by on April 22, 2012

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBHmVOHmA-Q

What an incredible performance from Knife Party (Pendulum) at UKF’s 3rd birthday celebration. The set features all four of Knife Party’s new tracks, ‘Fuck Em,’ ‘Centipede,’ ‘Sleaze,’ and ‘Bonfire,’ They are releasing on Knife Party’s new EP, ‘Rage Valley,’ dropping May 6th! The set starts out with their legendary, rarely used intro titled ‘Where’s The Bloody Knife Party?’ The set contains a few other unreleased tracks of theirs, like their VIP mixes of ‘Crush On You’ and ‘Internet Friends,’ including their unreleased collaboration with Mista Jam, ‘Until They Kick Us Out.’ Personally I enjoyed this set much more than their ‘Goat & Fire’ set before UMF started.

Events, Progressive House | Madonna vs. Avicii – Girl Gone Wild (UMF Mix) + Other Remixes

Posted by on April 21, 2012

Aaaaand boom. The remixes for Girl Gone Wild have just dropped a bit out of no where and this package is absolutely massive. Not only do you have Avicii on here, you have Size label member Kim Fai offering his take on this track with emotive strings and pulsing electro drop, Dada life bringing their signature heavy electro sound as well as remixes from David Audé, Justin Cognito and others. The Avicii remix is the best one of the bunch and he made this track in 3 days so you have to admire the skill that went into this REMIX. Yes this is a remix of a Madonna track, he did not make it for her, so I do not understand the arguments that he sold out. Benny Benassi made the original track. If he sold out then Hardwell and Laidback Luke both sold out for doing a remix of Taio Cruz – Hangover. Then Dada Life sold out for doing a remix of this song. Then Calvin Harris has definitely sold out for producing and writing “We Found Love” and his upcoming track with Ne-Yo “Let’s Go”. Then Dirty South sold out for doing a remix of “Coming Home”, then Mark Knight sold out for doing his remix of “You Found The Love”. I could go on, but what I am saying is if you want to hate on the man for rising to success so quickly, that is your peragotive, but to claim he sold out for doing this remix is simply wrong.

Also do not forget to get your tickets for his US Arena tour coming up this summer that will feature his new live show. Check back this week for something special about that.

Preview, Progressive House, Videos | Tune in Tokyo – Ray of Love (DallasK & Denzal Park Remixes)

Posted by on April 20, 2012

The above video will surely bring back nostalgia for all of you UMF attendees and make any of you who haven’t seen Hardwell live (myself included) feel the need to see him. We posted a radio rip of his remix with Tiesto of The Naked And Famous – Young Blood, and now the official preview is out. Also watch Hardwell’s entire set at UMF after the jump.
Here are two remixes from American DallasK and the Australian duo Denzal Park of Australian pop group Tune in Tokyo’s single Ray of Love. Both remixes make excellent use of the outstanding vocals that mesh perfectly with the progressive melodies provided by the two remixes here. DallasK has gotten his fame for his harder electro house tracks, but he makes a refreshing change here with a smooth progressive build that eases into melodic break with a simple bass line, well timed stops and an uplifting synth melody. Denzal Park gives a track that has more of a big room feel. The build has a bit of a different feel, creating intense anticipation of a huge euphoric, hands in the air drop that will make this track a sleeper festival pick early this summer.

DJ-Set, Preview, Progressive House | Hardwell & Dannic – Kontiki (Teaser), Pierce Fulton March Mix

Posted by on March 18, 2012

Of the tracks Hardwell debuted at Sensation White Copenhagen back in October, Kontiki was the one I was looking forward to the most. Spaceman was getting the earliest release, but my mind was always set on Kontiki and I thing with this teaser you can see why. It is always a treat to get a mix from Pierce Fulton and this March Mix is no different. It is a great way to get yourself ready for UMF with a spot on mixture of groovy, relaxing tracks and upbeat electro and progressive jams, including some exclusive edits from Pierce Fulton. Tracklist after the jump.

Moombahton | Vato Gonzalez & Diplo – Rasclat Riddim

Posted by on March 15, 2012

Diplo and Vato Gonzalez teamed up for this Moombahton original given away for free to be rinsed during SXSW and UMF. You never know what to expect from Diplo, this guy is all over the place with his music. I was surprised when I first heard this track because I wasn’t expecting much and the title had me thinking it was going to be more of a reggae influenced track. Nevertheless a Moombah banger emerged from this collaboration and right in time for the festival season as well.
