Events | Ultra Music Festival Phase 1 Lineup Announcement
Posted by Middy on December 29, 2012
UMF, the crowned jewel of the American festival circuit, now in its 15th year making a historic shift going to 2 weekends, has announced many of the headliners for the festival in the first phase of artists announcements. Some of the big names include, Avicii, Armin van Buuren with ASOT 600, Above & Beyond, Fatboy Slim, Bassnectar, Carl Cox (who will be hosting his own arena), Kaskade, Deadmau5, who is returning after blasting them for a whole host of things last year, and SHM ending their one last tour with shows on Sundays of both weekends. A couple other pieces of info we do know about UMF is that ASOT will be on Sunday the 24, or the second weekend only, though Armin may be there both weekends, Deadmau5 is preparing something unique for this occasion and with live performances from guys like Matt & Kim & Boys Noize, this should be special UMF. If you are feeling nostaligic or are already gearing up to go this year, watch some of the recaps from last year on UMFTV.
Dubstep | Ansol & Dyro – Top Of The World (Dyro Dubstep Rework)
Posted by Sev on November 16, 2012
This caught me a little off guard today. This memorable house anthem from UMF this year by Ansol & Dyro that won everyone over during Afrojacks set, has been reworked by Dyro. It seems as though he has been rinsing this Dubstep rework he created in his sets. Wasn’t expecting this from a house producer, but he delivered a destructive remix to this great track. Brace your self because he is going to rock your speakers with his distorted growls accompanied by his appealing melodies. He almosts puts some of the dubstep producers today to shame with this one. Dubstep, Electro | Kanye West & Jay Z – Ni**az in Paris’ (Cazzette Bootleg)
Posted by Sev on October 28, 2012
The wait is over! Finally we get to get our hands on the long awaited bootleg from Cazzette of Kanye West & Jay Z’s, Ni**az in Paris’. This track was one of the big highlights to this years UMF, being played by almost all the producers and DJ’s attending. These guys were probably one of the main catalyst to the remixes that started flooding through of the track back a few months ago. Either way they take this hip-hop track and mash together some heavy Dubstep and Electro sounds to create a massive drop for this track. Grab the FREE DOWNLOAD HERE.
Dubstep | Major Lazer ft Flux Pavilion – Jah No Partial
Posted by Sev on October 22, 2012
Major Lazer’s reign of influencing the EDM scene with their Island/Reggae style continues with their latest release and collaboration with the one and only, Flux Pavilion. We first got a real glimpse of this outstanding tune through Skrillex and 12th Planet’s back to back set at UMF, when this tune took the internet by storm. After sorting out all the details and figuring out this was a collabortion between the two heavy hitters, all we could do was wait for some sort of release date and more audio of the track. Diplo is one of those artist who likes to relay a message into his tracks through whatever method possible and in the video provided below, he gives us a little overview as to why he chose the acapella for this Johnny Osbourne classic. This bouncy track definitely exhibits styles from both artists and turned out to be an amazing tune. Grab this track off of Beatport HERE.
Electro-House | Afrojack – Rock The House
Posted by Middy on July 16, 2012
Afrojack did not only drop jaws at UMF when he played “Top Of The World” for the first time, he also put them back down on the floor when he premiered this track with Lil John yelling all over the place, telling you just how special it was to avoid rips of the track. Afrojack has risen to the level of a global superstar, occasionally crossing over into pop and doing songs with pop superstars in the US, while remaining true to his Dutch style and still cranking out those bleeps and bloops that caused people to fall in love with him in the first place. The guitar melody, combined with the massive, big room chord progression provide the perfect build into the hard electro / dutch drop that will Rock Your House and your neighbor’s as well. He also shows off his creativity and production skill with an interesting percussion and piano interlude providing a whole array of styles all within the one song. Another fantastic production from Afrojack and as they say, “If it ain’t Dutch, it ain’t much”.

Videos | Can U Feel It – The UMF Experience (Full Movie)
Posted by Middy on July 15, 2012
“Can U Feel It” is the famed movie from Final Kid that captures the experience that is Ultra Music Festival. It goes behind the scenes into how the production is set up and gives you an idea of just how massive an undertaking this festival is each year to do, notably with the evolution of the festival starting 14 years ago, from a problematic, ill-reputed festival with only 10-20 thousand attendees people to now one of the premier festivals in the world. It goes behind the scenes with interviews with various EDM big wigs (ignore Will.i.am) such as Afrojack, Fedde le Grand, Tiesto, Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, David Guetta and Carl Cox, who is highlighted in the film for his Carl Cox & Friends stage and his contribution to not only the festival, but to the scene and genre in general. This is a must watch for anyone who has not been to UMF, or for anyone who has to get those familiar goosebumps, and I am sure you will make UMF a must do for 2013. Tracklist after the jump.
Electro-House | Bingo Players ft. Heather Bright – Don’t Blame The Party (Mode) (Firebeatz Remix)
Posted by Sev on June 26, 2012
Bingo Players are nothing new as far as House music and catchy melodies are concerned. After watching the UMF stream live in March, I can’t remember a House set that didn’t contain one of their catchy tracks. These guys always find a way to get their melodies trapped in your head for weeks and just as I was over this track; here comes Firebeatz smashing Electro remix. Taking the heart of the track, the melody, and keeping it intact while adding some gritty Electro synths to create an almost “Zedd Style” remix. I can already tell you this one is going back into the rotation for a few more weeks now. Grab this track on Beatport HERE.
