Trance | Tom Swoon ft Taylr Renee – Wings (Myon & Shane 54 Summer Of Love Mix)
Posted by Middy on August 10, 2013
There is a lot to love about summer. Free time (hopefully), warm weather, beaches, pool parties, sun dresses and general lack of clothing, cold beer, freedom and last, but certainly not least, Myon & Shane 54 Summer of Love remixes. Their summer-tipped remixes make them some of the hottest in demand artists this time of the year, with guys (and gals) like BT, Markus Schulz and Lana Del Rey all calling upon their talents. Tom Swoon and Ultra managed to swoon them as well (couldn’t help it), to take his good original and make it great, giving it serious replay value.

Electronic, FYI | deadmau5 gets “back to music”
Posted by mimada on June 27, 2013
I’m going to try not to touch on anything that’s going on with Deadmau5 in the media at the moment but I will say that it’s been an eventful few days for him. Between breaking free from the chains of Ultra Records, partnering up with Capitol Music Group, and premiering some insane robotic mau5heads at his show in Vegas, things have really been heating up. There may have been some news about him on various gossip sites this morning, you know, not really sure what that’s all about BUT it seems he took FNT author Sev’s advice and dropped two new tracks to keep the ball rolling. If only every musician could respond to negative press like that….
We’ll see how things play out.

Events, Videos | TommorowWorld Releases Trailer, Tickets still on Sale
Posted by Middy on June 19, 2013
It is old news now that Tomorrowland has expanded its reaches worldwide, first to the United States and possibly in the future to other parts of the world. The festival taking place between September 27-29 in Georgia has been slowly revealing its lineup, with names like Hardwell, Axwell, A-trak, Alesso, Ferry Corsten, Jamie Jones, Tiesto, Porter Robinson & Sebastian Ingrosso set to take the stage. They have just released the trailer for the festival, drawing on footage from last years Tomorrowland and using tracks from the official ambassadors, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, including two unreleased songs. Is it just me or does the last one “WeHa”, set to be the Tomorrowland anthem, sound awfully similar to “Wakanda”? Tickets are still on sale for a much more reasonable price than the $500 you will be dropping for GA at Ultra right now, so go ahead and purchase those now.
Electronic, House | Disclosure – Settle (Album Review)
Posted by Spice on June 12, 2013
These days, it’s hard to do much of anything on the internet without encountering heaps of reverential praise for the British brother-duo better known as Disclosure. They’ve become the de facto poster children for what’s cool in 2013 and have amassed a following that includes both hipster indie pop enthusiasts and their ravier twenty-something counterparts. Back in March, I remember perusing the calendar at one of my favorite clubs and noticing that they had sold out that upcoming Friday — the first Friday of the second weekend of Ultra, as it were. Not only did this not register with me at the time, but I didn’t even bother to catch them in Miami. Quelle folie. I am usually slow to warm up to bandwagon-y new groups, probably due to the fact that I am effectively a huge music snob in denial, but sometimes the hype becomes too great to overlook and bandwagons get harder and harder to ignore. In the case of Disclosure (and their now very considerable bandwagon), I can confirm that all the hype is utterly justified.
Progressive House | Lift Off #012
Posted by Mel on June 6, 2013
Aside from how to fit a whole banana in my mouth, there are only two things I know. One being there has been some quality releases lately and two being they haven’t been posted. I won’t blame anybody W8 but I figured that this moment is what Lift Off was made for. There is a backlog of tracks that, if they were girls, would be known for their great personalities. That is the philosophy behind Lift Off. It only made sense to revive this series for at least one more instalment. We start off above with a modern rendition of a song that came out when I was just the sexy young age of seven. “By The Way” by The Red Hot Chili Peppers gets brought into 2013.

I wasn’t involved in a long and amazing relationship with this next song but it sure feels like I was. The way it just tears at my heart makes me feel like we’re going through a devastating break up. Whether that’s the impact the lyrics are having on me or I’m just making it up I do not know. What I do know is that I was an open canvas ready to be painted on and this track painted a masterpiece across my naked body.
Yes, the reality of rampant transexuals currently populating Brazil does worry me a bit. They look alright at first glance but by the time you find out it’s just too late. Might as well go through with it at that point. These are issues that Brazil’s Lucas Bojakowski hopefully doesn’t have to face and if he does, we won’t judge him for doing it. He has recently remixed Dirty South’s “Your Heart” beautifully and is giving it away for free.
Not including my parents, I have like 5 friends. Of those 5, about half are girls I don’t actually know but who’s Instagram’s I may have accidentally memorized and occasionally check when it’s time. Jk I don’t do that. That’s creepy. I hold myself to a higher standard than that. It may be okay for other people, mainly Avicii, to make subpar decisions regarding what to play at Ultra and memorizing Instagram’s, but not me. TOER is a name that nobody memorizes because nobody knows who he is. Though if he keeps putting out huge, big room originals like “Knight Lights”, that may change.
Electro-House | Krewella – Alive (Hardwell ‘The Final’ Remix)
Posted by Middy on May 17, 2013
You guys may be sick of this song by now with it getting plays on every popular radio station, but when a dance music heavyweight like Hardwell gets a hold of this, you have to listen. Hardwell has professed his love for Krewella‘s crossover hit single “Alive“, which recently went number one on Billboard’s dance chart, notably rinsing out the Cash Cash & Kalkutta remix during his sets, such as his highly acclaimed Ultra set. Hardwell decided to surprise the fast rising trio with a remix of his own, fitting the vocals to an instrumental that meshes with what he is bringing to his live show.
Krewella could not pass on the opportunity to make this official, thus the remix in front of you was born. It is clear the time Hardwell spent with W&W has influenced what he is bringing to his productions. The thunderous synths that we see from W&W creep their way into this remix as Hardwell mixes together the instantly recognizable vocals from Krewella with the perfect-for-the-live-show bombastic instrumental that he has created. Is that a hoverhand there Hardwell? C’mon man, don’t be shy, they don’t bite….too hard.
Videos | Armin van Buuren Joined on Stage by Dutch King and Queen; Everything Makes Sense Again
Posted by Spice on May 1, 2013
Here is a video of Armin van Buuren being joined on stage by the King and Queen of the Netherlands, who made an impromptu pit stop at this apparent rave while probably en route to a ball and/or palace.
This video is perfect. Several things:
1) There are currently multiple comments on YouTube alleging that Armin is, in fact, the real King in the North King of the Netherlands and the other guy’s an impostor. Interesting theory.
2) I’m assuming that this is the Dutch equivalent of the Obamas getting on stage with Skrillex at Ultra. Awesome; also excellent visual.
3) In that vein, I’d really like to live in a country where Armin van Buuren is backed by a symphony orchestra and kings and queens come out to wave to the adoring populace as the dulcet sounds of trance and violins fill the air. Armin van Buuren: Dutch National Treasure.
4) The Queen is kind of a babe, no?
5) Coolest royal family ever. Sorry England — until Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles are photographed waving glow sticks at Ministry of Sound, I don’t want to hear about it.
BREAKING: I’ve just been informed that this is a video of King Willem-Alexander’s inauguration, where Armin was specifically asked to perform. However, what King Willem-Alexander isn’t telling you is that the whole inauguration thing was actually a ploy; he really just wanted to see Armin drop his Dead London edit of “Stresstest.”
