Dubstep | Rameses B – I Need You (feat. Charlotte Haining)
Posted by Spice on March 8, 2012
While I’m currently going through a seriously grimy DnB phase, I’m still a huge sucker for melodic, lyrical dubstep and it’s pretty much no secret. Adventure Club? Done. Blackmill? Yes please. Accordingly, I was very excited to come across “I Need You” this afternoon, as Rameses B absolutely nails the romantic side of the genre. The wistful, breathless vocals, raindrop-esque synths, and lush chord progressions make this beautiful track a must listen. “I Need You” is available for purchase on UK iTunes (chafey.) and some website I’ve never heard of called “Juno” that…well, at least looks legit. Check it out below.

Hip-hop might not be as good as it use to be in the US, but I think the UK does a crazy job keeping it alive. I mean sure up and comers aren’t doing half a bad job like Logic, Kinetics, not Mac Miller (kid needs some new subject matter), and not Sam Adams (No offense Sam. I love your tunes, but hip-pop isn’t hip-hop). Hip-hop isn’t just rhyming because you can, otherwise you would see my name up on this post. Countless people telling me they just listen to hip-hop beats now, thats half the track what about the rest of it? You have to have a good flow and a decent story to tell. Love that grimy feel you get from the UK rappers like what you get from this Aspects track, enjoy.

Hip-Hop | Elite, J. Cole, Tinie Tempah

Fresh off the release of his eye and ear opening mixtape, Awaken, Elite gives us a cut that didn’t quite make the cut for the mixtape. I’m still completely blown away by the mixtape and it’s definitely among one of my favorite projects of 2011. Expect more singles and bonus tracks dropping over the next several weeks and don’t expect Elite to slow down anytime soon. The second track here is one which Elite featured a spot on D1‘s record. D1’s smooth vocals coupled with Elite’s percussion backed verse make this another joint you don’t want to sleep on.

In addition to the above cuts from Dreamvillian, Elite, J. Cole recently featured on UK artist, Tinie Tempah’s single. The track features another British artist, Wretch 32, and it’s not the first time we’ve heard from Cole and Tinie.

Dubstep | Nadia Ali, Starkillers & Alex Kenji – Pressure (Zomboy Remix)

The moment every dubstep lover has been waiting for has arrived. Special thanks to T and his boy from the UK for the hookup. For those of you that don’t know, Zomboy has only been producing and DJing since this past January. He graduated school with a degree in mechanical engineering, he decided one day that instead of helping create the DJ equipment we see now, he was going to use it. One hell of story from one of the genres now biggest players. I don’t think I need to introduce this remix, it’s awesome.

Bootleg | DJ Falcon & Thomas Bangalter – Together – NAPT Bootleg Mix
Posted by Sev on November 17, 2011
This track sounds like it could be a collaboration between Daft Punk and Justice, but it’s not. Although Daft Punk had a little mash of the vocals in there Alive 2007 live album, it is a bootleg remix from a duo that resides in the UK known as NAPT. This style of funk/electro is like sex in your ears to say the least. Everyone should check this track out and show them some love on FACEBOOK.

Dubstep | R Rated #2
Posted by Sev on November 9, 2011
This is the second installment of Mach and I’s Rated R dubstep post. This week we bring you some filthy tunes from some up and coming producers you most likely haven’t heard of. What can we do though, these guys out shined the big names this week and deserve the right to be featured in the Rated R post of the week. Also we are going to start giving you guys a throwback tune of the week also. We will do our best to make sure it isn’t one that was too popular and died out already. So crank the bass and turn up the volume, let the bass violate you. (NSFW)
Tolgar did a sick job of remixing this track, but the drop says it all on this one.

Joker is known for his UK style dubstep, and the original to this track reflects that style. Autodrop put the perfect spin on this.

As far as we know about this track, we aren’t sure who created it. Rumor has it that it is a Feed Me & Skrillex collab that was released for a few days on Feed Me’s website, but was then taken down. No confirmation on that so take it for what it is, a sick tune.

iNexus appearing for two weeks in a row on R Rated. All this guy knows how to do is make filthy, but yet intricate dubstep.

This was the overall favorite track of the week. I loved everything about it, from the buildup, to the drop, to the ending. It has that Skrillex esque vibe to, but with some Dr. Deimos style thrown in.

All I’m going to say about this throwback is, Datsik defines filthy in this track. Through the middle of this song Datsik turns up the filth even more which just sets the tune off.
