We don’t have a downtempo category, but that is what I would put this in if I could. PHVSMO, from Nevada, just released this chill masterpiece for free for us. The art for this track accurately describes the vibe in a visual way. “You’ve Been” is trippy, drippy, and mellow. If you’re not familiar with PHVSMO that’s the usual style we hear. This track really grabs me because of the vocal sampling and chopped and screwed type of sound. You will definitely be able to drift away to this one!

Some of you may remember the name ProbCause from when I tossed up his trippy song and visuals “LSD” featuring Chance The Rapper, a few months ago. He has returned, this time with a new Chicago-bred artist to collaborate with on the single entitled “One of a Kind”.
The O’My’s raspy vocals mixed in with Prob’s smooth delivery lace the jazz-filled production to create a record worth listening to again and again. Donnie Trumpet is to thank for the beautiful brass sounds, but I’m personally glad that all three of the artists teamed up to create such a masterpiece.

Ion The Prize, from California, has put out a trippy remix of Dailon’s “Trips” for us today. He gave the song more of an upbeat feel than the original track, and made it sound a bit more complex. You can still hear the chord progression from the mellow original, but with new drum work and vocal samples. His take on the track lends way to a higher pitched melody and quicker tempo as well. The ambient piano section at the end is very pretty. Grab this one for free right off Soundcloud!

It’s been a while since we’ve seen the young Chicago emcee, Alex Jordahl up here on Fresh New Tracks. Jordahl has been off at school perfecting his sound, and craft while we’ve been anxiously awaiting some new music. “Go Away” is unlike almost all of what we’ve heard out of Jordahl thus far in his career. The somber, heavily-produced track is a ballad of a lost lover and the trippy visuals add in a whole other level of depth.
I highly recommend giving the video and song a try, and let Alex know what you think!

Blackedout sent over his latest release “Champagne” a spacy, downtempo record layered with vocal samples from The Spinners’ “It’s A Shame.” The title of this track will reflect exactly how you feel after listening: trippy, tired, but relaxed. This is my first time hearing anything from Blackedout and I’m impressed, you’re going to want to venture through out his SoundCloud. One track of his that stood out to me was his remix of Basecamp’s “Emmanuel.” This is a must listen and a must download!

Mr. Carmack tracks truly speak for themselves.
However, the artist that this remix is derived from is definitely worth nothing. Breezy LoveJoy (also known as Anderson Paak) seems to be a very under the radar talent along the same funky feel as Carmack. You can catch Anderson Paak on the Wintervention Tour featuring Wax this December, and it seems they’ve got quite a few shows lined up so check here to see if there’s one in ya ‘hood.

This track is exactly what it’s title says – drippy. “Drippy” by Le Moti is a chill original track featuring trap beats and sound effects underneath a trippy serene melody.
