Electronic | Bixel Boys – Black December EP
Posted by VMan on September 27, 2013
Bixel Boys bring the funk! So dirty, I would be surprised if these tracks don’t get played at TomorrowWorld. The boys have been receiving support from Fedde Le Grand, Viceroy and Goldroom, whom have been praising their groovy dark innovative sound. If I were to describe their 2 track EP Black December which includes “Black December” and “Red October,” I would say they’re a mix of deep house, trap, and funk, but one thing’s for certain you’ve never heard something like this before. I’ve been spending the past 3 days with all Australians who put me on to this sound, and I’m digging it. Press play, and enjoy the trip!

Chill | Weep – I Know U Got Work
Posted by VMan on September 26, 2013
Throwback Thursday to 4 months ago, Weep dropped “I Know U Got Work,” a beautiful instrumental piece with dope chopped samples that flow. You can choose to vibe out to this one, or move to it. I know personally, I can’t get enough of this track. I wouldn’t be mad either if MCs hopped on this one, the beat knocks: it has melody, soul, and elements of trap. Do yourself a favor, stream this tune, and download it, it’s a MUST!!

Well folks, it’s been real. Tomorrow, Sept 22, marks the official end of summer 2013. In honor of the change in season, I present to you the second installment of my very own Warm Air mixtapes. A mix designed to ease the transition of swimsuits to sweaters and piña coladas to pumpkin spice and peppermint mocha lattes. A mix to warm you up in the cool autumn breeze, to relive the sweet memories of the past few months, and keep your spirits up and motivated as you face challenges in school, work, and everyday life. So close your eyes, and let this mix take you back to that moment on the beach where you dug a hole in the sand with your toes as you watched the sun set, or when you indulged in the most amazing 4th of July BBQ of your life, or drove around recklessly with the top down and the radio up, or the night you watched an epic fireworks spectacle with your boo thang wrapped up tight in your arms.
Remember, just because the summer is over doesn’t mean the fun is. Oh no, 2013 can and will go out with a bang. With 3 months left to go, it’s time the real fun begins.
I’d also like to dedicated this mix to one of my most beautiful friends as she turns 21 today. Hope you enjoy this mixtape as you take your first legal swigs of alcohol today, take an extra big one for me <3

Albums, Electro, Trap | Banks – This Is What It Feels Like (Akouo Rework)
Posted by mimada on September 18, 2013
When getting acquainted with a new artist, I like to pay extra attention to any remixes they might’ve done, especially of songs I’m familiar with. Remixes give an insight to an artist’s style, as well as their creative limits and potential. So I was very drawn in first to find that Tasmanian producer Akouo’s (pronounced “ah-koo-oh “) selection of remixes made up of many of my personal favorites and second, that they were all super badass. I’ve had this Banks track on repeat for the past 72 hours and Akouo’s remix is exactly what I needed to change it up. It draws from the subtle hints of darkness in the ridiculously sexy original track and turns it out in a trippy, trap rework. And Akouo keeps you hanging on as the song develops more and more with each minute. It’s hot, and I’m hooked.

Chill, Trap | Jaymes Young – Moondust (Ianborg & Bronze Whale Remix)
Posted by BP on September 18, 2013
Ianborg and Bronze Whale do great work separately, so seeing them together on this chill trap remix was a real treat. Jaymes Young’s song “Moondust” has some fantastic vocals that were showcased nicely in this remix. The pacing in this track is on point and the subtle low vocals spliced in show the attention to detail. This find was certainly a pleasure for the ears.

Trap | PTAF – Boss Ass Bitch (Chi Duly Remix)
Posted by Jess on September 17, 2013
If you’re not familiar with Boss Ass Bitch, this is the latest and greatest thing in the world of ratchetry. Going viral on Vine via lipsyncs of the insanely catchy hook, it eventually found it’s way onto Chi Duly’s timeline. After disappearing for most of this year, the FNT vet (who first caught our attention with Balloons of Haus, cosigned by The Weeknd himself) blindsides us with a twerk friendly remix that bangs start to finish.
Aside from lending a hand on PropaneLv‘s upcoming album Varsity Blues, it seems he’s been doing some reinventing.
“I hate that I’ve bitten onto this twerk/trap stuff like every remixer in the galaxy. Sh#* happens I guess. Here we go.” – Chi Duly
