Vonzie and Kaptain just delivered a ridiculously dope record “20 Deep” that you need to experience, what they call a jazz infused, melodic trap track, and I’m going to call it straight sex. We’ve heard Vonzie do trap remixes but this original record surpasses your regular trap record, and is actually mad refreshing, yet still managing to hit hard! If you’re looking for an eargasm, this track is for you, hands down, stop reading this and press play. I genuinely look forward to hear what Kaptain and Vonzie have in store for us next. This is a must listen and a must download!

YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT IT IS.

All the music that I listened to throughout the last 12 months enough to make me sick but somehow didn’t. The fields of music brought a bountiful yield in 2013 which allowed listeners like me to tune into more genres and artists than I could ever imagine. In order to cover all my necessary bases, I’ve drafted quite a comprehensive list (or two) missing prety much only anything Jennifer Lawrence related although if all the things she said this year were songs then they would 100% have made it on my list as well.

So, let the countdown, BEGIN!

Mix, Mixtapes, Review | 10 Mixes From 2013 That Made My Jaw Drop

Posted by on December 23, 2013

One cool thing that happened to me this year was that I got hired on to write for FNT. I have followed this website for years and it has led me to mountains of great music. I’m glad that I now have the opportunity to share music with the website. This year I became a bigger fan of mixes; I love to see what artists can do when given an extended period of time within which they can be creative. Below is the list of 10 mixes that I liked the most from this past year, with some other mixes mentioned at the end that didn’t make this list based on who knows what. The list is more or less ranked in order, with mix #1 definitely being my favourite. If you don’t want to listen to all of the mixes, and don’t care what I have to say about them, then skip ahead and at least listen to the number 1 mix – Space Jams by The M Machine (hence the above, cool picture of those guys). Thanks for supporting the website by visiting it, thanks for supporting artists and their music, and thanks for reading our posts.

Trap | Ian Munro x Kyle Van Riper – Swing It

Posted by on December 18, 2013

So I’m all for the classic jive, but this modern take on “Swing It” by Do Androids Dance is probably one of my new favorite trap tracks. It’s delightfully unexpected but by all means feel free to go off to this Ian Munro masterpiece. Trap’s not music? I beg to differ.

The NYC production duo comprising of Emilio Sparks, and Mike Cash are it again, this time sampling Bane from Batman’s “The Dark Knight Rises” and the tag line “Take control of your city!” for a trap goodie on this sunny hump day. If you’re at the office listening to this, warning, twerking may occur. Oh and considering it’s the holidays, EB is giving away $150 worth of Cloud Kicker goodies, all you have to do is click here and follow the instructions! This is a must listen and a must download!

Albums, Review, Trap | Brillz – Retwonked

 BRILLZ

Just a week ago, Brillz dropped a remix rendition of his Twonk LP. This release is suitably named Retwonked and is a song for song remix package (granted, there are two remixes of WTF on here), and it again takes trap style music and gives if a jet engine face wash.

Brillz is among the clan of artists that are responsible for keeping trap music – and other genres, in a less significant manner – interesting and moving forward. Mundane isn’t in this dude’s vocabulary. I love listening to Brillz mixes, and seeing him live because his music is a blast to party to. It’s trap music that’s hyped way up, and includes so many elements of different genres, that he can toss in just about anything that is high energy and it feels right at home. He brought on a bunch of remixes by his other fellow innovators for this package. The result that is unprecedented, and packed with upside-down A’s. I gave a few words about each track, as well as an EP teaser mix and a full length Brillz mix after the jump.

Trap | Harrison Blakoldman – Nocturn

Posted by on December 5, 2013

Wow, isn’t this album art awesome? Anyway, “Nocturn” by Harrison Blakoldman out on Cosmonostro is a trapped out beauty. “Nocturn” stands out from a lot of the trap coming out right now. The sounds of a xylophone ring over low bassy beats. Its a lullaby with a modern twist.  My favorite part is after a minute in when the sound is fuller, but it’s all really unique and interesting to listen to. Grab it for free!
