Hip-Hop | The Dean’s List – The Drive In | HIP-HOP

Hot damn, this is one impressive project. Like I don’t think it’d be out of this world to give this a spot in our top 10 mixtapes for the year. Evidently The Dean’s List has mastered the art of rapping over perfectly produced beats that host some unreal vocals. Hopefully I won’t be the only one who picks up on the advanced spitting techniques these guys are utilizing to keep the songs fresh and professional. I could probably post the entire tape but that’d take the fun out of getting “The Drive In” in its entirety.

Albums, Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | CHILL RAP | Hoodie Allen’s “Dreams Up”

Posted by on January 18, 2011

Hoodie Allen, the New York based rapper and U-Penn graduate, has graced anxious fans with “Dreams Up,” a new single off his upcoming mix-tape, Leap Year. With lyrics like, “I can dream big, I can dream fast,” Hoodie’s new track demonstrates his classic style with an unconventional and up-beat sound.

I’m sure you’ve heard of Hoodie by now. Pep Rally, the mix-tape he dropped last September, transformed him into an online sensation. With over 17,000 likes on Facebook, Pep Rally had bloggers and fans begging for more.

Sampling Oh Land’s “White Nights,” Hoodie’s “Dreams Up” has, four months later, done it again. Although a release date for Leap Year has yet to be set, Hoodie constantly updates his Facebook with information and will surely let fans know soon.

Gaining steady buzz and notoriety after dropping his mixtape, “Beg To Differ“, Paul gives us the visual treatment to one of my favorite tracks off his tape. As a bonus, I added the actual mixtape if you haven’t already downloaded it. If you’re sleeping on Paul Markham, now’s the time to wake up. By the way, who spotted 5 And A Dime and the sartorialist Alex Heckmann in the video?

Note: Not all these tracks are off the tape…
Yes, another white college rapper. This is PJ Simas, a civil engineer major from Cal Poly. I heard this the other day and it really caught my ear. I love the production more than his actual raps but I am really liking this whole mixtape. Check and lets us know whats good.

Mashups | Wait What – Mashup Mixtape

Posted by on September 2, 2010

this is real life by wait what
Everyone needs to check this tape out…it’s been a minute since an artist has put something like this together and donated all of the proceeds to a charity. Every dollar spent will go to a youth writing center so young kids can one day blossom into blogstars (or writers). The mashups are all well done and let’s be honest…when’s the last time most of you paid for music? Support the cause.
