Trap, Videos | Keys N Krates – Treat Me Right
Posted by mimada on May 3, 2013
I first stumbled upon Keys N Krates at a showcase during SXSW a few months back. As soon as this Toronto-based trio hit the stage that night, I was captivated by their dynamic. These guys have a certain sound and stage presence that’s hard for me to describe, but looking around the room I started to notice that everyone else had the same blank stare on their faces, which soon turned into a unified head nod to the beat. Their sound was so fresh and flow so seamless that before we knew it, the set was over and the crowd rushed the stage begging for more. It was a small crowd, but one of the most enthusiastic, I remember that.
Anyways, this track was one of the most memorable and it’s hard not to catch yourself bouncing along it. I love the thematic transition in tune with the song, along with how in the end, the femme-fatale turned deviant heroine prevails, muahaha!
Smacks these guys right in the middle of your radar, stat.

Hip-Hop | Kendrick Lamar – Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe (Remix) [Ft. Jay-Z]

After premiering it at SXSW, we get the full CDQ version to this one. The song features new verses from Kendrick and Jay. If you have yet to grab Kendricks good kid, m.A.A.d. city, I highly suggest doing that after you listen to the song.

Posted by mimada on March 9, 2013
Next week, Fresh New Tracks will take on South By Southwest, the self-proclaimed “premier destination for all discovery” that sets the trends of music for the next year to come. SXSW is a film, music, and interactive festival that takes over the city of Austin for 10 outrageous straight days. The music festival is comprised of official and unofficial (usually free) shows, rooftop parties, party boats and buses and no to mention the most interesting collection of people you will ever see.
Allow us to give you a little taste of what went down last year…
Stayed tuned for Sev and Mimada’s Complete What-To-Do and How-To-Do-It guide after the break.
Hip-Hop, Videos | Nardwuar vs. Kendrick Lamar

Nardwuar is single handedly taking SXSW by storm. He’s been on an absolute tear, interviewing A$AP Rocky, Action Bronson, Danny Brown, and now K. Dot. Per usual, Nardwuar leaves K. Dot’s mind boggled, wondering where he dug up such personal information. As “A” said earlier this week, Narduar is hands down the best interviewer in hip-hop and the current streak he is on at SXSW only adds to his legendary track record. 12 minutes with Nardwuar will change your life. Doot Doola Doot Doo… Doot Doo!
Who would be the most interesting Nardwuar interview?
Hip-Hop | Danny Brown vs. Nardwuar (Interview)

Danny Brown’s originality and uniqueness get me every time. Danny has been killing it lately though, with countless features in notable magazines, getting interviewed on Carson Daly and by who else than Nardwuar, and playing SXSW. Danny gives us a brand new song with some raw emotion throughout it. Then on the other hand goes and does one phenomenally hysterical interview with the one and only Nardwuar. Scoop the track and watch the interview. Look for more Danny to come.

Well isn’t this a gem. Fresh off SXSW. Nardwuar interviews the white Rick Ross, Action Bronson. Nardwuar is easily my favorite interviewer in the game. He does his research, as you can tell by his numerous personalized gifts he ALWAYS graces artists with. His questions are always deep and thought provoking. Anytime I watch one of Nardwuar’s interviews, I gain an entirely different view of whoever is being interviewed. Get familiar with Action Bronson.
Moombahton | Vato Gonzalez & Diplo – Rasclat Riddim

Diplo and Vato Gonzalez teamed up for this Moombahton original given away for free to be rinsed during SXSW and UMF. You never know what to expect from Diplo, this guy is all over the place with his music. I was surprised when I first heard this track because I wasn’t expecting much and the title had me thinking it was going to be more of a reggae influenced track. Nevertheless a Moombah banger emerged from this collaboration and right in time for the festival season as well.
