Electro | M83 vs. Big Black Delta, Passion Pit, & Savoy | Electro

This track has the most epic sound to it. I feel like the US team should run out into the stadium for the next Olympics to this. Good Daft Punk Tron track turned into greatness.

Passion Pit is just great at what they do. I was happy to see that they were the ones to make the first good remix of the new Beastie Boys track.

DARKROOM
Darkroom is a new, fast rising sub-genre of electro, although many have never heard the name before. It is a blend of electro and dubstep but maintaining a very strong electro beat. Savoy is silently dominating this sub-genre not so quitely. His tracks are hard, heavy, and amazing. Besides those great things Savoy is bringing back laser shows, nice.

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | Gorilla Warfare Tactics – Premier (Mixtape) | HIP-HOP
Posted by BIGLIFE on March 3, 2011
Now this is how you’re supposed to lose your EP virginity. Gorilla Warfare Tactics took the blogoshpere by storm last month with their leaks “Temptations” and “The Tale of Mr. Street” and although the former is probably the best cut off this tape, that certainly doesn’t mean this NYC based trio failed to delivered with the additional 5 tracks. Perhaps these guys will provoke a resurgence of old school hip hop sounds, at least amongst the ever growing population of up-and-coming artists. Head over to Facebook and “like” their Fan Page – their sub-2000 number doesn’t do them justice. (Note: I’ve kept the album art for these tracks/mixtape DL)

Albums, Dubstep | BetatraXx – The X EP | Dubstep
Posted by Mach on February 24, 2011
BetatraXx has some sick dub flow even though he is mainly known for his Cali style electro, but that was back in his Redlight days. I would have to say “Relic” is the best one of the 6, but thats just my opinion. Technically BetatraXx is calling this Classical Sleeze which is just a sub-genre of Dubstep. People have been saying I say stuff like “BANGER” and “SICK” too much. I’ll finish by saying these tracks are ASDF. If you haven’t heard of the guy before click HERE to see his stuff on Soundcloud.

House, RnB | Neyo – Give Me Everything (Produced by AFROJACK) | HOUSE/R&B
Posted by Juicebox on February 22, 2011
A few months back I wrote about electro music taking over hip hop and how soon, the two genres would infuse creating their own sub genre. Afrojack producing a song that Neyo hops on is exactly what I was talking about. This beat has that signature house sound Afrojack creates so well tied with a nice mainstream poppy sound that produces the perfect sound for this collaboration…
Electro | INDIE ELECTRO POP | Atypicals and Breakbot
Posted by BIGLIFE on December 22, 2010
At times our music world seems over run by computer generated sounds that leave little room for raw talent. The purists throw fits while the enthusiasts encourage the growth and development of new sounds, genres, sub-genres, etc. I fall somewhere in the middle, which is why the “Atypicals” piqued my interest. My iTunes library has been long overdue for a new group that utilizes learned instrumental talents to create their works – Ryan Leslie like artists if you will. This Brooklyn based group sports three members who can put on impressive live “band” performances that somehow bring a house dance sound to their speakers. If you’re searching for something refreshingly new, give these guys an ear and be sure to leave your opinion in the comments section of chatbox. For more information check out their Facebook, Twitter or group website.

Dubstep | “Chill” and “Reggae” Dubstep
Posted by BIGLIFE on December 3, 2010
At the moment, this “chill” and “reggae” dubstep sub-genre is my favorite. It’s not too heavy, not too light; just a perfect balance for the normal everyday eargasm. Don’t get me wrong, I love to get weird with some of the harder stuff but these beats will never give me a headache. Hopefully more artists like “Dubtrash”, whom specializes in reggae dubstep, will emerge. Perhaps Bassnectars newest cut will inspire other artists to experiment a bit. If only Skrillex dropped a track that would fit the reggae bill. Support Bassnectar by purchasing his tracks on ITunes.
Deadmau5 – I Remember (Caspa Remix)
Bob Marley – Is this love (Lojik Remix) [Mt Eden Edit]
Fugees – Ready Or Not (Cillo Remix)
And since we are in left field already, here’s a dutch house track from our bud DJ Bent.

Dubstep, Hip-Hop | Split Second – Innocence
Posted by BIGLIFE on October 7, 2010
Now that we’ve seen an example of how not to release a dubstep track i.e. kill a song by awkwardly talking over it and then claiming to be the king of the sub-genre invented by Bostonsboy, I’d like to offer everyone with an impressive project done by the Taft trio, Split Second (one of the members now attends Trinity College). If your ears get wet to this one, wait till you hear the track I’ve been begging these guys to drop for weeks. Fortunately we will be premiering it tomorrow so stay tuned.
