Events | Pacific Festival OC: Review
Posted by BIGLIFE on August 15, 2011
Let me start off by saying, if you haven’t attended a music festival yet, now is the time. Trust me, you don’t want to end up being that parent who lies about going to Woodstock because he or she doesn’t want to seem like an un-hip reject from his or her generation. And you know what? That’s exactly what these events are – our generation’s answer to Woodstock with a few production improvements thrown in the mix.
Some of you stragglers might find these shows intimidating. Not everyone is a die hard music buff nor do they fit the typical bill of an attendee but the beauty is, that doesn’t matter. Treat it like a night out to a club or bar with an act you may know well or not know at all. Everyone is there for one reason, to have fun, not to judge you. Sure, that $75+ ticket is a hefty price to pay for a day of fun, but in the grand scheme of things that money will be inconsequential. The memories, however, will last you a lifetime.
Pacific Festival is the perfect starter event for a weary concert go-er and with a lineup of over 50 artists, encouraging seasoned festival lovers to attend goes without saying. All the little details added up made this a top notch event for me. When I don’t have to wait in a long will call line and when it doesn’t take me an hour to leave the parking lot despite staying till the last breath of Cut Copy, I know the folks behind the scenes are doing something right. The gourmet food trucks, varying sizes and styles of stages, and the beautiful scenery were all things I took note of as well. Added up, these factors made it seem as though I had arrived at a “destination” not just some arbitrary cost-effective venue.
Before diving into the performances, I’d like to give Rebecca, Holly, and the rest of the Pacific Festival crew a special thanks for fueling our generation’s love for music by making this all possible. Electro, House, Mashups | Enrique Iglesias ft. Lil Wayne – Dirty Dancer (Savoy Remix)
Posted by Middy on August 12, 2011
Following their collab on “The Way We See the World” Afrojack and Nervo have come together again and added Steve Aoki to make a great song set to release August 16th. Here is the Savoy remix they did for having I’m In Need making number 1 in the beatport dubstep chart. It is quite good, with some heavy electro drops and well crafted builds. Also take a look at how the video for Dirty Dancer is almost exactly the same as the video for Nero – Guilt, kind of funny.

Bonus:
Here is a fantastic mashup from Ken Loi. It is longer then most mashups, but stay with it because it changes throughout and stays excellent. The beginning has some more heavy electro in it and around the middle it transitions to a more melodic synth and piano driven song with some vocals as well.

Electro, Hip-Hop | Steve Aoki & Laidback Luke ft. Lil Jon: “Turbulence” | ELECTRO
Posted by GMONEY on February 28, 2011
Steve Aoki and Laidback Luke’s much anticipated “Turbulence” track, featuring Lil Jon, was officially released today.
The accompanying video, which has been posted above, displays the sort of turbulance, or shall I say hurricane, that Lil Jon brings to every track he’s featured on.
Even the all-so-annoying influence of hipster-flavor in this video (which was, presumably, Aoki’s idea) can’t mask the ridiculousness of Lil Jon stomping around and whippin’ his dreads back and forth.
Hey, I’m all for hip hop merging with electro, but when it comes to useless screaming–Aoki should stick to incorporating his own vocals.
Regardless, this track is still FIRE. Give it a listen below, or purchase it here via Beatport.
House | Laidback Luke Essential Mix 2/19/2011 | HOUSE
Posted by Juicebox on February 22, 2011
Laidback Luke brings his us another essential mix after dropping his last one all the way back in 2008. This mix is too sick featuring some classic tracks as well as some party heaters, including my personal favorite, Wynter Gordon’s Dirty Talk (Laidback Luke Remix).

DastiK has conducted his own remix of Steve Aoki and Sidney Samson’s “Wake Up Call.” The remixed version has now been added to a list of two other tracks, both of which I have previously posted. Go HERE to download the other two “Wake Up Call” remixes, and make sure to check out DastiK’s version, below.

Torqux and Twist’s heavy remix of Peo de Pitte’s “Burning Up” is SO dope. The bass hits impeccably hard. This is one of those “MUST DOWNLOAD” tracks.

Yesterday, Chasing Shadows, the young duo comprised of Joe Erskine & Luca Gulotta, posted their remix of Tasha Baxter’s “The Vistor” on Facebook. Such a refreshing sound…

I’m really into the vocals on this Marlow track.

I have endless love for Aaliyah. Her song “Are you that Somebody?” defined my teenage years. For anyone else who jammed out to Aaliyah when they were younger (don’t lie boys–I know you did), this one’s for you.
Electro, Hip-Hop | Edward Maya – “Desert Rain (AG Remix)” & More | Electro and Electro-Hop
Posted by GMONEY on January 31, 2011
Edward Maya is the man, with that said so is AG for making this sick remix. It was played at a party over the weekend and the people loved it. AG took a great new song and made it into a great new remix. Again with another hot remix is Steve Aoki. Honestly I’m surprised he picked one of the less popular Weezer songs, but damn did he make it work. Moving on, after Avicii released “Street Dancer” a few weeks ago I didn’t think I would find anything with his name that I’d love. Glad I was wrong and props to The Prototypes for making this remix of “My Feeling For You.” Last track is Electro-Hop and is just straight FIRE, enough said.
