Welcome to 2016, and with it, welcome AVNU. The 18 year old South African producer has been working on his sound for over 6 years now, but just released his first ever track. With a remix of Rozes’s “Fragile”, AVNU’s goal is to have the listener experience “A Virtual New Universe (AVNU)”. AVNU’s sound perfectly compliments the beautiful vocals from the original, but he makes sure to give “Fragile” his own twist. Check it out now, and stay tuned because rumor has it that AVNU will be releasing one remix a month in 2016.
Electro-House | Maddix – Rampant
Posted by Middy on January 13, 2014
Dutchman Maddix makes his debut on Spinnin’s imprint for up and coming acts, Oxygen, with his latest tune “Rampant”. We saw his potent, melodic electro style in his previous originals and remixes, and here he ramps it up a notch, unleashing a relentless fireball of a tune with powerful electro saws from start to finish. Also if you aren’t feeling the whole Beatport link thing, grab his recent free remix he did for South African band Pestroy, that he did while hanging out with them down in SA.

Pop | St Lucia – Too Close

Ever since South African artist St Lucia was brought to my attention with the Xaphoon Jones remix of “We Got It Wrong,” I’ve kept a watchful eye on them. Today they blesses us with the release of “Too Close,” off of their debut full-length album “When The Night.” If you’re a fan of synth-pop, and feel like listening to a symphonic piece today, St Lucia’s got you! This is top-notch production. I look forward to hearing the album, and the bundle of remixes that will come about of this project! Must listen! After the jump check out their tour dates this fall.
House | The Knocks ft. St. Lucia – Modern Hearts
Posted by Middy on April 17, 2013
New York duo, The Knocks have exploded onto the scene in the past year or two riding the crest of the nu-disco wave that has had a resurgence globally in line with the resurgence of EDM stateside. Coming off of several outstanding remixes, The Knocks return to originals in the same unique style that has driven their success.
Their latest effort tabs South African singer, St Lucia to deliver a silky smooth vocal top line that meshes impeccably with the instrumental from The Knocks. This intoxicatingly funky track is destined to be on repeat with its masterfully layered synths and arps that stand out as incredibly unique during this resurgence of nu-disco.
Trance | Protoculture – Laguna

South African producer (and one of our DJs to watch in 2013) Protoculture hits it out of the park with “Laguna,” his first original release since his 2012 smash “Perpetual Motion.” A catchy, dramatic hook and ethereal vocals set this track apart from the pack — it’s easily one of my favorites from the A State of Trance 2013 compilation. Though Protoculture won’t be joining The Expedition when it lands in Miami next week, expect to hear plenty of “Laguna” now that the season is upon us.
