“Yo Mel! I know you don’t have many friends and still don’t have a girlfriend  and also stay home most of the time so I’ve got the perfect site for you, edm-date.com”. That’s (roughly) what Middy said to me a week ago and I was admittedly intrigued. The thought of meeting a girl who loves Avicii, Zedd, Calvin Harris, Alesso, and that one Swedish House Mafia song as much I really got me going! Could I even find a girl like that at school?  Not a chance! I was stirring at the opportunity to sign up and finally get a gf at last! I figured it would be a bit of work though and I was already pretty tired, just had a piece of cheesecake ya know (super filling), so I took a nap. I woke up in a different state of mind however. Do I really want to look for love online? I don’t know, that’s what losers do… What about if things go well so we decide to meet up somewhere and it turns out we actually have a great time. We laugh and tell stories, spend the night telling each other about our childhood and what not. I then pay for dinner, drive her home, and she lies in bed thinking about me. I, on the other hand, lie in bed and cry because she has Megan Fox thumbs and a slightly askew left eyebrow so I have no other choice but to never talk to her again. There were many similar questions buzzing around in my head so I was unsure as to whether or not I wanted to go through with it. A sticky stomach and a shameful shower later, it was time to get to work.

So… I did it. I signed up and attempted to get a date. Does this EDM exclusive dating site actually provide people with a chance to find love with likeminded individuals or was it all a waste of time? Read on to find out.

Cover, Hip-Hop, Rap | Kid Slim & K.Weezy – Tour Van Jams

Posted by on November 2, 2013

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to see Kid Slim open up for Fresh New Tracks legend, SoMo. To put my experience lightly, it was cathartic. Kid Slim was an artist who I had contact with early in his career when his music was not blog-ready. To see his progression is one of the most fabulous things I’ve experienced. After I told him his music was not good enough to be on our site, I now tell you all that his music is quite good enough to be on this site. His latest mixtape, Freshman 15, was phenomenal, and his stage presence in undeniable.

One of my favorite segments from the show was when he and his DJ/producer K.Weezy, switched it up a little and hit the fans with a cover of “Best I Ever Had.” The girls, and myself, went crazy. K. Weezy did a phenomenal job on the strings and Kid Slim surprised everyone with a voice I would never have expected from the 6 foot 8 man. We have been blessed with a full version of their impromptu jam on last weeks edition of “Tour Van Jams,” which can be found above. If you’re in the mood for a couple of laughs, check out the cover of “I Like Big Butts” below. Kid Sim has come a long way, and he’s going to go a lot farther, so hop on while you can!

Hip-Hop, RnB | Justin Bieber – All That Matters (Jeftuz Remix)

Posted by on October 17, 2013

Okay, so I know a lot of covers and remixes of this song have been exponentially blogged on every single site but for the sake of this one, this remix is going up. It’s of the best integration of Hip Hop and R&B that I’ve heard in awhile, and lets be honest, the original is pretty catchy to begin with. Check it.

Progressive House | Blondfire – Where The Kids Are (Madera Remix)

When I’m reading Harry Potter alone in the bathroom and crying there is only one thing I need, a glass of water and my favorite Taylor Swift CD. Once I calm down, I typically clean myself up at the sink and go back to class. Upon my arrival in class, to a huge standing ovation of course, it’s not out of the ordinary for me to sit there taking notes, never participate in group discussion, and ponder why the hell the small asian girl sitting next to me thought it was a good idea to bring thai food to class. The reason I am telling you this is because, among other things, I’m pretty lonely. Jk I’m not. What I am though, is a fan of indie and Math Bishop’s remix to Blondfire’s “Where The Kids Are”. After all, it was my first post for this site. It may be because of that I find this remix of that very song so infectious. It is not the best produced song and the intro is equivalent to the feeling you get after realizing that it won’t get any bigger, yet I still really like this remix.

My good friends,

It has truly been too long. I assume you’re all keeping well and making the most of this year that has been given to us. Today is the day to begin sharing my newest work with you. This is the first single off of my upcoming album. I feel sometimes that people don’t have enough information about my beginnings and therefore they make up a life story for me that isn’t consistent with actual events. My family and my second family (consisting of the best friends anybody could ever have) all struggled and worked extremely hard to make all this happen. I did not buy my way into this spot and it was the furthest thing from easy to achieve. I am proud of every part of my past and I’m excited for this song to find a place in your life as well. I didn’t feel I needed any interviews or radio or press to launch this song. It felt right to come back to the site that I started on and release it to the people that started here with me. Judging by this post, the tour that we’ve been planning, the conversations about new songs and album artwork…I think it’s safe to say we’re back together again. Looking forward to seeing you all soon. – Drake
