Electronic | [ADJECTIVE] [ANIMAL]

Posted by on October 11, 2013

After seeing this particular tweet earlier this week, it’s safe to say I am one confused kitten…

It didn’t take much time to come to terms with the fact that Cashmere Cat’s sound is so distinct that there was no way he couldn’t be the man behind Trippy Turtle. Which then lead me to question the true identity of the similar sounding producers Booty Beaver and D-D-DJ Yolo Bear, as well. The signature mattress squeaks and tambourines, the Drake references and remixes, the alliterated names, the “FoFo FaDis” for crying out loud. It suddenly all made sense…

And you know, while I’m still not entirely sure BenZel’s revealing tweet has been verified, nor this theory of my own, I’m not too worried about it anymore anyways because the Norwegian producer, Magnus August Høiberg (under whichever alias he prefers) (or whoever any of these musically-inclined critters actually are) has dropped some faaaantastic tracks this week. And that’s what we’re all here for anyways, right? I’ve bundled them all up for you here below in alphabetical order for your listening pleasure. And in the mean time, I’ll be brainstorming the perfectly catchy anthropomorphic nickname for my alter-egos. Hit me up if you come up with any good ones, your submissions are much appreciated.

Electronic | Drake – Come Thru (Noïthingness remix)

Posted by on October 10, 2013

Nøïthingness, coming to us from Lyon, France, puts out remixes and beats that are pretty unique. Since so many remixes of Drake are surfacing right now, I figured one with a different kind of beat was needed. This remix is fun and bouncy, with a a quick and complicated beat. Featuring vocal chops and quiet synths, it’s really a cool listen. Download this one for free on Facebook!

Electro-House | Qulinez – Noise

Posted by on October 9, 2013

Qulinez - NoiseQulinez has been quiet lately, but with “Noise” they break that silence with authority. This is not the Qulinez we saw with “Troll” and following remixes that emulated that style. This is an in your face, heavy electro, dubstep crossover track that does not take any prisoners.

Practically every single track that Jakob Liedholm releases is superb and his latest is no different. This time it’s a remix of Swedish band Everywhere’s “Soldier” and, like always, he does brilliant work transforming the original into a great progressive track.

Chill, Trap | Slumberjack – Crave The Rain + Remixes

Posted by on October 2, 2013

This album is just crazy cool. Slumberjack’s track “Crave the Rain” is smooth and mellow, and each of the remixers on the album takes their own unique spin on it. Although all the remixes are great, I’d have to say my favorites are both King Henry and Chu’s chill trap versions. The Leon Osborn remix takes a close second with a more cheerful, bouncy rendition. The whole album is available for free on Bandcamp.

Dubstep | Televisor – Old Skool (Fractal Remix)

Posted by on September 28, 2013

Fractal has been putting out fire remixes lately. Here’s his version of “Old Skool” by Televisor to celebrate 10,420 likes. The track feels nostalgic and emotional. The bass filled drops are each different, but both are melodic and pretty fast paced. This track will definitely grab your attention.

Dubstep | Zedd ft. Hayley Williams – Stay the Night (Dotcom Remix)

Dotcom Music

Notorious for his heavy hitting remixes, Dotcom likes to occasionally make my week and whip up a melodic dubstep anthem that always ends up on repeat. This time, Dotcom takes on a recent release from Zedd which is guaranteed to be one of the top ten hits of the year, especially with Hayley Williams enlisted on vocals.  The recreated melody blended with Hayley Williams vocals all combined with Dotcom’s signature sound, really come together to create a beautiful remix. Check him out on Facebook here.
