Progressive House | Walden – Intropial

Posted by on January 15, 2013

Young Australian producer, Walden follows up his debut single on Big Beat Records, “Ciaco” with his first offering of 2013, “Intropial”. Not straying from his progressive tendencies, Walden weaves together an uplifting melody with well timed stutters that may seem overused for some, but not here, pitched vocals and a steady bass line. As he is in the midst of his first stateside tour, Walden is proving once again that he can provide consistent quality. You can find info on the rest of his tour after the jump.

Albums, Hip-Hop, Rap | Mike Ballz – New Mentality

Posted by on January 14, 2013

Mike Ballz is one of my favorite up and coming rappers. And after an extremely long hiatus from making music, he’s back, and better than ever. Mike is a breath of fresh air for the rapping game, and I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed listening to a song of his. That being said, his latest track has not broken that trend. A phenomenal beat, with some quality bars that Mike lays down. Grab the track and be on the lookout for information regarding an album release.

Hip-Hop, Videos | Gaines ft. Chance The Rapper – We Are [Music Video] [FNT Exclusive]

[Watch in 720p]

Minnesota representative, Gaines, teamed up with Chicago native, Chance The Rapper, to deliver us the first single off his Night Crawler: Reloaded mixtape. It was shot and edited by Kevin Ceccon of NeoFilmMovement, who i’ve worked with on most of my “On The Spot” interviews. I’ve got to say this video was beautifully done and an amazing job on his part. A lot of videographers in this game today just shoot videos quickly with no thought process or composition. To top it off they do minimal editing and release the next day, but not this guy. This video has that cinematic look that really grabs the viewers attention. Aside from the video, this song is quality, sampling “We Are The People” by Empire Of The Sun, they speak of life’s realities and overcoming the challenges along the way. If you dig this track be sure to check out the full mixtape below and follow these guys on Twitter!

Progressive House, Trance | Middy’s Top 12 of 2012

Posted by on January 5, 2013

2012 was a crazy year. ASOT 550, Sensation, E Zoo, Inox, Prydz, seeing some of the best DJs in the world two, three, four, five times. It was fun. This was not easy at all and I could go back and forth on this at any moment, but these are those tracks that you could go back to at any moment and be more than happy. They are the ones that have a place in the timeline of the year. This is very separate of what is to come in the next few days — the official best and biggest tracks of 2012.

Progressive House | Avicii vs Nicky Romero – I Could Be One

Posted by on December 29, 2012

You know the song by now. The naming saga is about as long as the time it took to get released. It was first premiered by Avicii back in November of last year at the DC Armory and was given the fan name “Fuck School”. After a little while it was given the official name “Nicktim”, a clever combination of both producer’s names. When the vocals were added the track was at last given its final name “I Could Be The One”. I was down on the slightly autotuned vocals at first, but they have slowly grown on me. The track has lost some of the original star power it had when it was first premiered, but the quality is still there and will remain a big, highly played track throughout winter. It also comes with a few remixes and the instrumental mix for those who can’t stand the vocals. I had high hopes for the Audrio, formerly known as Adstedt, as his remix seems to lack the same power that his upcoming track “Humans” has, though it does have the same grungy, acid style. Didrick, a rather mysterious person because as of this writing joined Facebook not 19 hours ago, adds a grinding low end and adds more distortion to the melody and the vocals. The video is rather hilarious as well.

Drum & Bass | Wickaman, SuddenDef & Hoodlum – Bass Rider // Hurt You

Posted by on December 28, 2012

The InfraRed record label has always been known for their top quality releases, whether it comes to Drum & Bass or Dubstep. It seems as though on their latest release they were able to combine the ingenuity of these three artist to create two monster DnB tracks.  Bassrider is the crazier of the two tracks, providing more of a darker element with its toned down buildup into the fast paced , violent drop. Hurt You has some more melodic elements added to it, but still provides the right amont of bass to get the speakers rumbling. Both tracks provide that great old school DnB vibe alongside some fresher elements.
