A staple of Axwell’s sets for the past few months, the Swedish superstar wastes no time and reveals another track from his arsenal of highly coveted tracks in the Axtone reserves. With “Reverie” still a prominent feature in festival sets worldwide, look for Axtone to shine once again with their quality releases. I am really excited to finally get to post this epic download from Noisia and the Foreign Beggars’ collaboration project, I Am Legion. This track has been owning my ears for weeks now and finally we can all have a good quality copy of it to blast through our speakers. “Make Those Moves” is the first Neuro-hop track we have heard from Noisia and I have to say it will definitely set the bar for the next generation of bass producers. Dubstep will soon take a backseat to this Hip-Hop and Neuro-funk infused genre.

DallasK has quietly had himself an outstanding year with several critically acclaimed originals like “Alienz” and “Vice“. The Kindergarten Records signee and Wolfgang Gartner understudy presents the preview to his latest original as he approaches a significant social media milestone in his young and promising career. As a thank you to his nearly 20k Facebook fans (he is at just over 19k now), he has previewed a track he will be giving away when he hits that number. In this age when artists can explode in popularity overnight and their social media numbers explode in kind, many do not want to give out very good material because these milestones come too often. From what we can hear in the 51 seconds of “Heaven”, it sounds as though DallasK is giving out a quality addition to his discography, using a well-placed Killers sample.

Axtone is known for releasing a select few quality tracks in each year that will have a lasting impact on the sound of that year. This year we have seen the impact of “Wakanda” and the hardstyle revival in mainstream house music, plus Axwell’s return to releases with his own “Center Of The Universe“. Now a staple of Axwell’s sets, “Reverie” from Swede Marcus Schossow will finally get its final release with a remix from Michael Calfan coming later in the summer. The track combines an ominous, spacey build with a hard-hitting, churning drop that should make this a summer favorite. Watch for this on July 12th.

Our favorite politically minded French producers are back with some funky cumbia for your ears — just in time for summer heatwaves and the Fourth of July. This track has an undeniable throwbacky quality, along the lines of something that might be playing during the opening credits of a Quentin Tarantino movie. I blame the guitar riffs. And who ever thought those Latin drums would marry together so well with French? While the sample in “Cumbia pour la Sixième République” is technically advocating for change in France’s democratic institutions, you’ve got to love revolutionary overtones when Independence Day is on the horizon. Electro, Trap | Laura Mvula – Green Gardens (Djemba Djemba Remix)

I admire Djemba Djemba as an artist for introducing me to other artists that aren’t on my radar that very well should be. Before listening to this remix, I checked out the video for “Green Gardens” (above) which features Laura Mvula and company dancing around in parking lots and a mysterious forest wonderland at dusk. Both the song and the video are really beautiful, actually, as is Laura herself. What’s also awesome about Djemba Djemba’s remixes is that they don’t take away from the quality of the original version. In fact, this track hardly references “Green Gardens” other than a select few of the lyrics. However, Djemba Djemba maintains the same bright and empowering vibes that make the original so unique and makes them work in his own way.
I have to say though… As great as Laura Mvula’s dance party looks, I think Djemba Djemba’s green garden is where it’s at.

Progressive House | Lift Off #012

Aside from how to fit a whole banana in my mouth, there are only two things I know. One being there has been some quality releases lately and two being they haven’t been posted. I won’t blame anybody W8 but I figured that this moment is what Lift Off was made for. There is a backlog of tracks that, if they were girls, would be known for their great personalities. That is the philosophy behind Lift Off. It only made sense to revive this series for at least one more instalment. We start off above with a modern rendition of a song that came out when I was just the sexy young age of seven. “By The Way” by The Red Hot Chili Peppers gets brought into 2013.

I wasn’t involved in a long and amazing relationship with this next song but it sure feels like I was. The way it just tears at my heart makes me feel like we’re going through a devastating break up. Whether that’s the impact the lyrics are having on me or I’m just making it up I do not know. What I do know is that I was an open canvas ready to be painted on and this track painted a masterpiece across my naked body.
Yes, the reality of rampant transexuals currently populating Brazil does worry me a bit. They look alright at first glance but by the time you find out it’s just too late. Might as well go through with it at that point. These are issues that Brazil’s Lucas Bojakowski hopefully doesn’t have to face and if he does, we won’t judge him for doing it. He has recently remixed Dirty South’s “Your Heart” beautifully and is giving it away for free.
Not including my parents, I have like 5 friends. Of those 5, about half are girls I don’t actually know but who’s Instagram’s I may have accidentally memorized and occasionally check when it’s time. Jk I don’t do that. That’s creepy. I hold myself to a higher standard than that. It may be okay for other people, mainly Avicii, to make subpar decisions regarding what to play at Ultra and memorizing Instagram’s, but not me. TOER is a name that nobody memorizes because nobody knows who he is. Though if he keeps putting out huge, big room originals like “Knight Lights”, that may change.
