Dubstep, Preview | Rekoil – Forever
Posted by Mach on June 4, 2013
Rekoil is your usual, bass in your face, destroy your ear drums type of producer. That is until he released this melodic clip today. The track has actually generated some disgust from some of Rekoil’s more “loyal” fans. I really don’t care if an artist breaks out from their comfort zone time to time, if the track is good why hate? Rekoil did an exceptional job on this, the melody is flawless. I’m nerding out a little from this track since the bit synth samples remind me of the “Lavender Town Theme” from the original Pokemon game. I hope he releases the full of this track soon, and maybe he will continue to dabble a little more in the melodic side of Dubstep. Props to Rekoil for keeping it real.
Trap | M!NT & Samples – Collider
Posted by Mach on April 15, 2013
808 Trap for the win from M!NT and Ben Samples. This is what most Trap should sound like. I can’t stand listening to a song full of bleeps, bloops, and blips with the artist calling that Trap. If that is actually Trap then my phone is just as good of a producer as the rest when I get texts. This original is piece of art, massive props to Samples and M!NT.
Progressive House | Kaskade & Deadmau5 vs. Swanky Tunes & Matisse & Sadko – Move For Me The Legend (Kaskade Mash Up)
Posted by Spice on December 18, 2012
In this latest installment of Kaskade Mash-Up Mondays (yes, it’s Tuesday…who’s counting), the man/myth/legend that is Ryan Raddon brings you the literal definition of an auto-download. “Move For Me” is one of the most recognizable and well-loved tracks in recent EDM memory. “The Legend” is progressive house at its riveting, melodic best. What happens when you merge the two? Nothing short of amazing. Props to Kaskade for continually identifying some of the most compelling track combinations out there. Hip-Hop | Mac Miller – America (Ft. Casey Veggies & Joey Bada$$) [Official Video]
Posted by dshaq on July 5, 2012
Mac gives us some fitting visuals for the 4th of July. America, which was one of my favorites off Macadelic, features Mac and two of Hip-Hop’s notable up and comers in Casey Veggies and Joey Bada$$. Everything about this song is on point: the verses, the chopped chorus, the visuals. Props to Mac and the illroots team on the video.
House | Swedish House Mafia Vs. Knife Party – Antidote (Original Mix)
Posted by Middy on November 18, 2011
After listening to live and radio rips for the last couple months, we finally have the full version of the vocal mix of Swedish House Mafia and Knife Party’s “Antidote”. If you are wondering how this could have leaked, remember that the vocal mix of “One” leaked early before Pharrell had the opportunity to hear the final version. They had us fooled with “Save The World” having everyone thinking they had the final version, but they were all wrong. So here we are with “Antidote” and everything in this song points to the fact that this is the final version. SHM has said it is finished, they have sent out cds to other DJs and labels and this just seems finished. Here are the vocal mix and instrumental mixes that everyone has wanted 2 months ahead of its scheduled January 15th release date. It will be interesting to see how this affects this song and its release. Props to T.

Electro, House, Videos | 13 year old DJs at Cafe Mambo, Bassjackers
Posted by Middy on September 26, 2011
I cannot tell if I should be taking this seriously or not. They are tiny with all the DJ equipment and the crowd towers over the them. Also 13 may be spotting them a few years. Whatever these kids are playing a legit club in Ibiza and that is ridiculous for a 13 year old. Props to T for showing me this. Coming off of their huge hit “Mush Mush” that has been rocking festivals all summer, the Bassjackers (not the kids above) are at it again with this massive remix. The vocals resemble that of Example and the bass line and drop are awesome, perfect for a live show.

Videos | Mac Miller Explains “Blue Slide Park” Title
Posted by BIGLIFE on July 27, 2011
Props to MTV for asking this question and even bigger props to Mac Miller for providing a thoughtful response. Nowadays album titles, song titles, etc seem like mindless tasks for some artists, but fortunately this restored some of my faith in the artists that run this hip hop show. More importantly, this just goes to show how invested and passionate Miller is about his music career.
