Hip-Hop | Dylan Owen – Burn This Whole Place Down

Posted by on January 18, 2012

Can January 22nd come any sooner? Keep Your Friends Close, Dylan Owen’s newest EP, will be available for free then, and I’m all in with this kid. I’ve been following Dylan since he released “The Book Report”. His flow is impeccable with so much emotion and passion, it makes me cherish each new release. Any way, here we have a sample from a John Mayer track, Who Says. Mr. Owen throws some straight fire over this beat. Set your calendars to check back for the tape, but in the meantime check out Dylan’s Facebook and Twitter.

Also Dylan did a song, “Dreams”, with Reef of Fortune Fam and they sampled Adele’s piano riff from “Someone Like You”. August Coupe on the production.

Progressive House | Moguai – Mpire

The first song from Moguai in 2012, this house jam featured on Deadmau5’s label mau5trap is a testament to Moguai’s incredible production quality. He utilizes elements from both Progressive and Electro House to get that feel good driving house vibe.

Electro | Coldplay – Waterfall (90’s Finest Remix)

I, for one, am thoroughly enjoying 90’s Finest’s latest decision to take a short hiatus from releasing original material so that they can flex their production muscles. Their most recent remix to Coldpay’s Waterfall upholds the laid-back and easy going vibe that made the original a smashing success, while adding a vigor that any true electro-head would crave after listening to the original.

Hip-Hop, Videos | Yelawolf – Let’s Roll ft. Kid Rock (Music Video)

Posted by on January 11, 2012

I’ve been waiting for this video for a minute now and it’s finally here. In my opinion, “Let’s Roll” will be Yelawolf’s break out hit as it has Top 40 written all over it. The video for it was filmed in Gadsden, Alabama and The Bronx, New York, and also features a cameo appearance by hip-hop pioneer DJ Kool Herc. With production from The Audibles, Mr. Pyro, and Eminem and an amazing hook from Kid Rock, it is hard for me to see this song not being huge.

Dubstep, Electro | Kredo – Reach The End

Posted by on January 11, 2012

Philipp Gerber, better known as Kredo is coming out of Switzerland with a heavy, yet tolerable dubstep/electro track entitled Reach The End, featuring haunted vocals followed by an insane drop that compliments the feeling. Kredo began with a variety of genres to later find his niche in electro and dubstep, after playing the piano for more than 14 years he spent the last few years experimenting with drum machines and synths that developed into a love for computer based music production altogether. It’s not everyday, if ever I get to compete with Mach and Sev’s R Rated dubstep although now, it’s a different story.

Hip-Hop | FKi X Iggy Azalea X Diplo X HXV – I Think She Ready

Posted by on January 10, 2012

It’s no secret. I have a blog crush on Iggy Azalea. She’s like the female version of Paul Wall minus the poor choice in tattoos. “I Think She Ready” which features Iggy Azalea, serves as the lead single off Mad Decent’s upcoming FKi mixtape. If you haven’t noticed, the down south ignorant rap style (which has slowly fallen out of popular culture) has seen a resurgence thanks to artists like A$AP Rocky and Iggy Azalea. Just a few weeks ago, Diplo linked up with Riff Raff to create “Rice Out.” Whether Diplo was serious or trying to be ironic, it’s interesting to see the rap paradigm shift, combining two opposite worlds into one. Production on the track goes to Derek Allen Diplo and Heroes and Villains. Be on the lookout for the mixtape dropping January 23rd.

Freestyle | Dunson – Lord Knows Freestyle

Posted by on January 5, 2012

Kenton Dunson just announced that he is dropping his first name from his stagename to be just Dunson. Along with it, he dropped a sick freestyle over Drake’s “Lord Knows”. You can definitely tell that Dunson is hungry to break out in the scene by this track. In it, he spits about his road as an artist and his goals for the future. His first single off his upcoming project is due out very soon. The track is produced by the Grammy-nominated production team, Phatboi Entertainment, and from what I heard, it may be his biggest hit yet. Stay updated on future releases from Dunson and help him regain his fans by liking his new fan page on Facebook.

“As matters progress, I have made the creative decision to continue my artistic journey under the name Dunson. This simply means that I will be dropping Kenton from the artist name. While it doesn’t change very much, we believe it represents a more defined character while allowing for a greater overall reach and impact. At this stage, I find it important to take the necessary steps to touch as many people as possible with what I offer as an artist. This allows me to accomplish that with more precision and less confusion.” – Dunson
