Preview, Progressive House | Popeska ft. Denny White – Heart Of Glass (Preview)
Posted by Middy on February 12, 2014
Kindergarten Records signee Popeska has unveiled the preview for his upcoming, more melodic single “Heart Of Glass” with Denny White on vocals. Unlike his his fellow Atlanta natives who are incapable of handling a little snow, Popeska shows the fortitude to handle change and make something different with this concept. Heart Of Glass is the first of a three part “Spirit Animal” series coming from Popeska on Kindergarten that is more melodic and conceptual than his previous more hard hitting tunes in the past. The tune comes out February 18th, so get ready for all three songs.
Albums, House, Videos | Dance (RED) Album + Live Stream

Last year (RED) partnered with Tiësto and Stereosonic to bring an album filled with the best tracks of the year. This time around, the 24-track album features almost entirely new music for the measly price of $9.99 with some dance music’s best, and for a great cause. The album has new tracks from the likes of Dada Life, DallasK, Popeska, Pierce Fulton, Tommy Trash, Felix Cartal, Candyland and much more. My sleeper pick from the album is Eric Prydz’s edit of Deadmau5’s “The Veldt” that he made for his US last summer and some how managed to sneak onto the album with little, to no fanfare. Don’t pirate the album, ALL proceeds go to charity. It’s world AIDS day, consider it your contribution. Kind of late on the live stream, but at this very moment Above & Beyond are streaming their set, so tune in for that. The sets will replay, so you can watch that throughout the day.

Electro-House | Kindergarten Yearbook Vol 1
Posted by Middy on March 25, 2013
The dance music world is paying homage to Swedish House Mafia for their epic farewell at Ultra tonight, but that does not mean the rest of the music has stopped. Wolfgang Gartner’s revived Kindergarten Records has decided to give away 4 tracks from some of its brightest talents on the label. You might expect some subpar throwaways to be mixed in with these freebees, but that is absolutely not the case. Taking tracks from the labels brightest up and coming talents, DallasK, Popeska, Charlie Darker & Conro, these four tracks bring together the unique electro house sound that you would expect from them with tough, melodic properties. With 4 free downloads from these names and each standing out on their own, you won’t want to pass up on this.

Electro-House | Popeska – Karmameter EP
Posted by Spice on September 18, 2012
You’ve really got to hand it to nineteen year-old Popeska. While there are plenty of remarkable DJ success stories out there, many of them can be traced back to one catalytic event, like winning a Beatport contest, winning multiple Beatport contests, or simply forging a direct line to Skrillex. Not so with the young Atlanta native, who gradually pulled himself up through the ranks of Soundcloud and amassed a legion of loyal followers by consistently churning out impressive original tracks with a fresh and distinctive flavor. Eventually he made it onto Wolfgang Gartner’s radar; suddenly we were seeing tweets and status updates about hanging out with Modestep in LA and traveling to Barcelona for inspiration. Now, maybe a year after this entire process was first set into motion, the kid has officially made it: a four track EP on Wolfgang Gartner’s imprint picked up exclusively by Beatport. Karmameter is in keeping with Popeska’s glitchy aesthetic; there’s a complex, almost orchestral opulence to these tracks, which all fall somewhere in the gray area between dubstep, electro house and nu-disco and are undergirded by formidable bass. And as we’ve seen in his past efforts, he makes judicious use of catchy vocals (on “Liar” and the moombah-tinged “Atlantis”) to supplement his instrumentals. If you’ve been following Popeska since the early days, you should absolutely continue to support him by purchasing his EP on Beatport. It’s clear that this is only the beginning for the young producer.

Electro-House, Events | Wolfgang Gartner – Love & War EP

After a disappointingly middling midsummer release, Wolfgang Gartner returns to form with a hard-hitting two track EP. Both of these tracks feature the dark, gritty edge and complex chord work we’re accustomed to seeing from the LA-based producer, which means that they’re unpredictable and guaranteed to get you moving. The title track is classic Wolfgang, with heavy, industrial synths and a grinding, relentless hook, though “Nuke” is my personal favorite of the two — it’s like “Space Junk” meets moombah meets “Flexx,” and that crunchy interlude of a riff (which you’ll immediately recognize if you’ve seen Wolfgang live recently) is to die for. Preview the tracks below and then head to Beatport for the download — you don’t want to sleep on these. After the jump check the dates for his upcoming US tour with Pierce Fulton & Popeska, coming off his Karmameter EP on Wolfgang’s own Kindergarten Records, providing support.

Dubstep | Popeska – Everybody’s Doing It

As you undoubtedly know by now, Popeska is one of our favorite young producers here at FNT — he consistently turns out polished original mixes with a distinctive and colorful flair. It should therefore come as no surprise that he’s starting to catch the eye of some industry heavyweights; according to his Soundcloud, he recently signed with Skrillex’s agent Lee Anderson. In his latest, “Everybody’s Doing It,” he puts a funky, heavy, trap-inspired spin on that immediately recognizable sample from Dead Prez. It’s a new sound for the 19 year-old and I’m totally digging it.
