Evora’s Weekly Playlist #3:

Remember the feeling of being 13 years old, in Mexico with your parents, drinking a virgin piña colada and watching all the rowdy college kids have the time of their life? I do. I went to Cancun with my parents and vividly remember watching college bros raging all night on their balcony with smoke shows hotter than the white sand beaches. I wished that was my life and I wanted to be them. Well, now it’s our time. It’s time to take on spring break with a real piña colada in hand, taking body shots off of smoke shows on the beach and hitting the clubs in Cabo hard at night. I created a playlist to help power the FNT Nation this Spring Break and keep you guys raging from the sunrises on the beach to the after parties after the clubs. All these songs are packed full of energy and are some of my favorite party songs. One of my favorites, Changed by SirensCeol is the perfect anthem to fade your thoughts of going to sleep and help power you through the week. I love this playlist as much as  spring break itself and I hope you guys have a great break. Be sure to download this playlist below and always party with sluts.

Hip-Hop | Drake – 5AM In Toronto (prod. by Boi-1da)

Posted by on March 7, 2013

Allow me to preface this post by saying, everybody is entitled to their own opinion as am I. Drake goes viral regardless of any blog so why not take this opportunity to share my thoughts. As the clock strikes 5AM here in Toronto, I don’t like this track. ”5AM In Toronto” bleeds pints of emotion, it’s got mad lyricism, and I get all that. I’m not even saying that I have something opposed to what we have here. I just don’t feel like I know what’s good anymore, and to be perfectly honest; I don’t think you do either. Everyone is starving for nutriance, and these organic vocal dosages give us life. Staring through the mirror into an artist’s life makes us feel like we have a friend, and because of this I’m usually sufficing thoughts like ‘Who is this guy talking to‘. We like hearing voices, and if that sounds crazy, well… yes it is. Anyways, I think this is what we’ve all been waiting for so allow me to contradict myself, my name is W8!

Late last night Young Money’s own Drake followed up his earlier smash hit ”Started From The Bottom” with more heat entitled ”5AM In Toronto”. The way Drake manages to feature on his own track is remarkable. His third studio album is presumably set to drop this summer.

Events, Review | Above & Beyond turn Roseland Ballroom into a Temple of Trance

It is said that Above & Beyond live creates an atmosphere much like that of a religious experience. Whether you are the person right up front wearing an Anjunabeats T-shirt, the girl on somebody’s shoulder making a heart hands and getting one back from Tony, or the guy dancing all the way in the back, Above & Beyond have a way to connect and touch every member of the audience on a deep, personal and emotional way that few other Djs can do. I credit Above & Beyond for helping take the full on plunge into dance music. It was not until I saw their club show at Glow DC two summers ago right after the release of Group Therapy, a show I almost did not get into due to issues with the overzealous bouncers, that I dove head first into this thing called dance music and eventually led me here at FNT.

DJ-Set, House | Eric Prydz Essential Mix 2/1/13

Eric Prydz returned to BBC Radio One’s legendary essential mix last night and the result was extraordinary. A two hour mind bending journey of unreleased tracks from the melodic master and his protégés, ranging from bright uplifting tracks like “Everyday” and “Let Me Feel” to the darker Cirez D cut. A few other individuals were able to sneak into the mix, but this was a showcase of the Pryda’s production prowess and what should be on the horizon for the next year or two we hope. Sit back, turn off the lights and get ready to be taken on an epic 2 hour journey by Eric Prydz. Pay attention to “ID 1”, because that one will be stuck with you for a while. Tracklist after the jump.

Events, Review | Dirty South @ Lavo NYC 1/17/12 (Review)

Though this was last month, I still have some pretty vivid memories of this night. The standard crowd of good looking upper crust mid twenties New Yorkers, expensive alcohol flowing like the Niagara and Dirty South spinning his brand of big room house behind the decks. Walking up to the high end New York Club I saw the familiar scene of people trying to negotiate the strict line — the people attempting to get in on the left side with either a ticket or just the hope that their looks or money would woo the bouncers to let them by that red felt rope and the right side filled with VIPs and their hangers on willing to drop their’s or daddy’s credit card on a night they will probably won’t remember. I shuffle in a bit out of place next to those VIPs and eventually make it through the various layers of rope into the club. Click on to go inside with us.
