20-year-old singer & songwriter Ari Abdul dropped her new EP ‘Fallen Angel’ via Slumbo Labs/RCA Records. Tune in to the deeply personal project after the jump and check out a quote from her on her debut project! Keep a tab on Ari Abdul, she’s quickly growing across the board.

“You have like these nice, lovely, innocent sounding songs. And by the end of the EP, the songs get really distorted and heavier, and the lyrics get darker. Maybe there’ll be an emotion or a little something that happens in my life in a song, but the EP is completely storytelling. We keep pretty melodies, but still have production and lyrics that completely contradict those pretty melodies.”

Kimezaa is a performer, producer, songwriter and poet coming all the way from Burundi by way of Montreal, Canada. While it is, genre wise, primarily an alt hip-hop / alt r&b song track it still dabbles into other soundscapes and spaces that make it more genre-less. Read a quote from Kimezaa on the new release below now and stream “Young Boy above!

“‘Young Boy’ is about the adolescent child with ambitions to be greater than their current circumstance. This song is for the people who will do anything to make their life better. It was inspired by events that have transpired in my life. Once I heard the instrumental, it brought me to a reflective place in which the hard times (like being homeless) began occupying my thoughts. This song is me at my most vulnerable state of being.” – Kimezaa

Albums | Late Night Therapy Releases Eclectic House single, “Spinning”

Posted by on August 21, 2022

Late Night Therapy is a new project from Australian artist Harry Suttor, who is making a unique blend of electronic music with progressive House elements. If you’re a fan of RUFUS DU SOL, Claptone, and other artists who used sounds within the House space, you will likely be a fan of Late Night Therapy. It’s pretty early on in his career with only 3 releases under his belt, but his new track “Spinning” may just be his best piece of work to date. The song was written during a time of deep introspection after coming out of a long-term relationship. Check out a quote on the single by the rising Aussie talent below now and stream “Spinning” by Late Night Therapy above now!

“I was coming out of a long-term relationship and had decided to take a couple month soff work to go back to my childhood home, a small village near Yamba NSW, where I could slow down and get back to focusing on music for awhile. It turned into a time of deep introspection, looking where I wanted to take my life next. It was also a time of reaffirmed gratitude and appreciation for what music creation brings into my life and the realization that I needed to once again heed the call and make music a priority. ‘Spinning’ is the first of a handful of tracks to come from that time. It’s about the spiraling thoughts that come alongside periods of rapid growth and change. This was also the first time in my musical journey I felt ready to not only produce and mix, but also master my own music. I’ve always had the ambition to learn every aspect of the musical process and it’s finally starting to pay off. I’m starting to make the music I’ve always wanted to. Completely my own vision.” – Late Night Therapy

Albums | Daya Releases “Love You When You’re Gone” Ahead of New Album

Posted by on August 15, 2022

indie rock meets pop on “Love You When I’m Gone” by GRAMMY® Award-winning, multi-platinum certified singer-songwriter, Daya. Her single opens up about the fascinating duality of missing someone when they’re out of your life yet being uncertain whether you miss the actual person or merely the comfort of their presence, according to the Los Angeles based artist. Check out a quote from Daya on the release below now and stream “Love You When You’re Gone” above right now!

“I found myself romanticizing a past relationship in a way that was almost willfully forgetting the reality of why it didn’t work out in the end. I realized part of the reason I was holding on to the relationship for so long was because I was scared to face who I’d be and what my life would be like without it, and so it’s about trying to let all that go and give myself the space and freedom to grow on my own.”

Indie | Dennyiah Drop Video for “Sense Of The Rain”

Posted by on January 7, 2022

Slovakian indie band Dennyiah return with one of their most captivating and hybrid releases to date, “Sense of the Rain”. This is the first piece of music I’ve heard by the band but this one is something unique and a great listen. Dennyiah, consisting of lead vocalist Denny and guitarist Lubos, the two-piece fuse pop, soul, country and blues to create their distinctive style and are known for never being limited to one sound. Tune into the visual for “Sense of the Rain” above now and read a quote from Dennyiah below on the release!

“It’s about the elusive sensation of an invincible life force coming from within. Losing the ego and idealised and pre-constructed idea of self. That’s when nothing around changes. The only thing that changes is your perception and the fact that it doesn’t have the power to go under your skin anymore because it’s always been disconnected from the true within. Bad things good things – it’s all the same – what matters is how much you let it drag you down. This song speaks about the short moment of enlightenment, about the deep connection to everything without the heaviness of reaction.”

Alternative, Pop | Gillian Heidi Releases Powerful Single, “Waves”

Posted by on May 2, 2021

Rising Boston-based Pop singer/songwriter Gillian is back with her third single of 2021 via “waves”. The emotional ballad once again shows off her songwriting and melody creating skillset, proving she is a Pop artist to keep an eye on this year. For fans of Taylor Swift, Alessia Cara, and Olivia Rodrigo. Check out a quote from her on the release below and stream “Waves” above now!

“I wrote waves at the end of eighth grade, when I started to realize that everything was changing. I had recently switched schools, and I was about to start high school. I had this overwhelming feeling of realizing that I wasn’t a kid anymore. Instead, my life was now plagued with worry about tests and relationships and things that, in the long run, don’t really matter. Waves was a moment of realization for me- I was growing up. My life was no longer focused on fun and fairytales, and I was nostalgic for a simpler, easier time. Waves captures a feeling of nostalgia and pain, wishing you would’ve cherished simplistic times when they existed and wondering how you ended up where you are.” – Gillian Heidi
