Drum & Bass | A Tribe Called Quest Ft. Faith Evans – Stressed Out (Lewd Behavior Remix)
Posted by Mach on July 11, 2013
As a member of the music blogging world I have seen my fair share of awful A Tribe Called Quest remixes, no one has seemed to understand the importance of verses in Hip-Hop in EDM. You see it everyday in Trap right now. Lewd Behavior didn’t make one of those remixes, in fact the Canadian producer is now responsible for one of the best remixes I have heard of the legendary Hip-Hop group. Life have you stressed out? Me too, but this remix will put your head in a good place.

Featured, FYI | FreshNewTracks is Looking For New Writers!
Posted by Mach on July 2, 2013
We are looking for good writers who have an intellect in music and who are regularly up to speed on their genre(s) of preference. FNT is looking for writers to fill positions in House, Trance, Electro, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Trap, Moombahton, Hip-Hop, R&B, and we are also open to experimental genres. You may apply for multiple positions, but it is not expected.
Each position is an unpaid internship, but unpaid does not mean there are no perks as a member of FNT. If chosen, you will attend shows and festivals as Press and get connected with many other people and artists throughout the music industry. If your application is accepted, you will first be interviewed and will then ghost write for 1-2 weeks to determine permanent status within FNT. Download of the application is linked below, when finished, email it to [email protected] with the subject as “FNT App, (Genre applied to)”. Each position has limited space, best of luck to all of you who apply.
Dubstep | Nero – Into The Past (Preview)
Posted by Middy on April 23, 2013
There are few films generating the buzz of The Great Gatsby, and its soundtrack is a part of that. Executively produced by Jay-Z, the star-studded soundtrack has contributions from Florence & The Machine, Lana del Rey, Jay-Z, Nero, Gotye and many more. The full preview of Nero’s contribution has been released by Interscope (who is still dealing with the will.i.scam scandal), giving us a peak into their production process that has been quiet of late as they gear up for their first album since 2011 album, “Welcome Reality“.
The cinematic single from the British dubstep trio, “Into The Past”, shows the complex, melodic stylings that have made them one of the hottest dubstep groups today. The combination of emotive strings, female vocals from the third member of the trio, Alana, and a soothing low end, makes this a perfect contribution for the movie from Nero. The entire soundtrack will be released May 7th

DJ-Set | Steve Angello Essential Mix 3/30/13
Posted by Middy on April 1, 2013
Steve Angello is currently sitting on the sunny beaches of Bora Bora sans computer, phone or any electronic devices, totally disconnected from the world as he decompresses from the 6 year whirlwind run he had with Swedish House Mafia that came to a close two Sundays ago at Ultra Music Festival. Before his vacation he took the time to drop off an essential mix into the offices of BBC’s Radio One. The mix puts in the rearview the SHM era and puts on full display the outrageous riches in the Size HQ hard drive that are just begging to be released.
Events, Review | Above & Beyond turn Roseland Ballroom into a Temple of Trance
Posted by Middy on February 22, 2013
It is said that Above & Beyond live creates an atmosphere much like that of a religious experience. Whether you are the person right up front wearing an Anjunabeats T-shirt, the girl on somebody’s shoulder making a heart hands and getting one back from Tony, or the guy dancing all the way in the back, Above & Beyond have a way to connect and touch every member of the audience on a deep, personal and emotional way that few other Djs can do. I credit Above & Beyond for helping take the full on plunge into dance music. It was not until I saw their club show at Glow DC two summers ago right after the release of Group Therapy, a show I almost did not get into due to issues with the overzealous bouncers, that I dove head first into this thing called dance music and eventually led me here at FNT.
Drum & Bass, Dubstep | Birdy Nam Nam – Defiant Order (Phuture Doom Remix)
Posted by Mach on January 10, 2013
Damn Skrillex and his OWSLA Nest. To top it off, Phuture Doom is probably the alter-ego of a member of OWSLA seeing as he only has 300 likes on Facebook, literally had created the page on the 1st of this month. Frustration, confusion, and this remix still owns. It is an interesting take on Drumstep, not as speedy as some would imagine but nonetheless one of the sickest tunes of the month. One day we will figure out who Phuture Doom is but until then I hope to enjoy every release from he/she/them. The remix will be available January 22nd of you can grab it on The Nest now.

Hip-Hop, Rap | Chiddy Bang – Paper and Plastic
Posted by ATexas on July 18, 2012
Chiddy Bang is here once more, a fellow Northfield Mount Hermon psuedo-alumni, him, Converse and Xaphoon create a dope mix of synths and spits. The drums behind the rhymes chill like another member of the band. It’s all around a good song to cruise to late at night. Maybe a preview of a harder Chiddy Bang…who the ef knows.
