Trap | Riff Raff – How To Be The Man (Meaux Green Remix)

Posted by on July 24, 2014

Riff Raff - How To Be The Man (Meaux Green Remix)It is fitting that a man who wears a copious amount of money on his accessories is remixed by a man who’s name tells the story about his affinity for green. Meaux Green does what he does best, speed this one up with some blaring horns over a tough and punchy bass line. He leaves just enough of Riff Raff for you to get your sage advice on how to be the man, but leaves the room to let his own handiwork shine through. It’s a freebee so get it now.

Progressive House | Tom Staar & Ansolo – Totem

Tom Staar & Ansolo - Totem
I told you the story of Ansolo and FNT in my last post so it is incredible to see him with his mentor Tom Staar releasing a tune on one of the most prestigious dance labels around, Size Records. We have seen a return to the bounce in dance music, not just what Melbourne has been doing for quite some time that is making waves across the world, but also groovier bass lines finding their way back into big time dance music. This tune has it all with an irresistible low end and a surprisingly soothing melody all wrapped up with strong tribal influences. It has already hit number 10 on the iTunes dance chart, so grab “Totem” below.

Preview | Oliver Heldens – Koala

Oliver Heldens is the darling of the booking world. Everyone loves the guy, and it’s easy to see why. I do, however, have a little problem with Koala. It’s predictable. It’s repetitive. Dare I say it’s a little too smilier to a certain future house contemporary? I won’t go that far. The bottom line is that it’s always tough to follow up a hit with another hit. That’s what differentiates a star from a one hit wonder. To Oliver’s credit, expectations are always high after a hit, and it’s hard to match the previous excitement. Do I think Oliver’s a one hit wonder? No. I just think this new offering should have been stronger.

Hip-Hop, Rap | Saba – Burnout (ft. Eryn Allen Kane)

Posted by on June 4, 2014

A few weeks back we brought you “401k” by Chicagoan, Saba. The song was a deep, dark, and raw hip-hop track. With “Burnout”, we see a different side of Saba. While he undoubtedly stays true to himself with meaningful story telling, he is also able to show a more upbeat and easily-digestible side of his music.

Each line has a languid feel to it, while still packing the punch it should. Eryn Allen Kane chimes in beautifully with each hook to round out an already impressive song.

“Burnout” has been floating around the internet for nearly two weeks already; don’t wait any longer to listen.

News | Axwell & Sebastian Ingrosso Reuniting?

Axwell

I’m not one to start rumors, but are Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso from Swedish House Mafia planning a comeback? Here’s an image they put up on their Instagram yesterday that was brought to my attention. If they are planning on releasing a tune, they better hurry up, festival season is just around the corner, and the Summer hits are starting to line up! Either way I’m looking forward to hear what these 2 are cooking up!

Electronic | Sir Sly – Gold (Phazz Remix)

Posted by on February 26, 2014

This song was incredibly difficult to categorize, and that is exactly what makes it so cool. Phazz’s remix of “Gold” by Sir Sly is simply some bass filled bouncy bliss. The variety of sounds in this track made it interesting all the way through. The drum work in this track is on point, as well as the groovy bass-line. The guitar made me think of warmer, summery times. Grab this unique track for free!
