Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Electro-House | Sub Focus (feat. Alice Gold) – Out The Blue (Remixes)

Posted by on April 30, 2012

The full remix package for Sub Focus’s incredibly catchy DnB banger “Out The Blue” dropped today, bringing us three markedly different (but independently awesome) takes on the track. My favorite of the bunch is definitely Xilent’s positively liquid dubstep reboot, which dials down the frenetic DnB pace, chops Alice Gold’s vocals, and layers in some seriously heavy wobbles. Laidback Luke, as always, brings the high level of production and hard electro-house flavor he is known for (if that pounding four-on-the-floor break after the drop doesn’t get your head knocking, nothing will). The dark horse here is XXXY, who offers up a throwbacky house interpretation undergirded by a La Bouche-esque drumkit…which in all honesty I’m totally digging. It kind of sounds like something that would be playing at Vidal Sassoon in 1995 and is generally making me want to revisit this glorious nostalgia trip. Check out all three below and snag the original mix if you missed it the first time around.

DJ-Set, Electro-House, Progressive House | Tiësto & Wolfgang Gartner – We Own The Night ft. Luciana

Posted by on April 6, 2012

Tiesto has released another single off of his much anticipated compilation album Club Life: Volume 2 Miami. This collaboration between Tiesto and Wolfgang Gartner displays both of their unique styles. The track starts with moving string elements and introduces the quality female vocals from Luciana who has become known for her work with Laidback Luke among others. The drop hits with a groovy, techy bass line that is almost identical to one of my favorite EDM tracks ever, Wolfgang Gartner – Space Junk with added synth elements over top and vocals from Luciana. If this track and the others that have been have been previewed in some form or another are indication that this album will nothing short of spectacular. Also below is Magnus & Timon’s Easter mix that puts together a range of tech to progressive tracks that will satisfy all tastes and keep you on your toes from one song to the next. Tracklist after the jump.

Progressive House | Laidback Luke, Arno Cost & Norman Doray – Trilogy (Remixes)

Posted by on March 12, 2012

Laidback Luke, Cost & Norman Doray – Trilogy (Original Mix) was an outstanding track in its own right with each of the producers having an influence on the track and putting together a key vocal as part of the melody. The remixers all do what you would expect from them with Swanky Tunes bringing some high energy progressive house to the track, Sebjack pounding out some heavy electro house synths, GTA, sticking to the name of their “Big Room” remix and creating a fantastic big room house remix, and Sam O Neall & C6 providing an electro remix with a heavy guitar melody. The original mix still remains essential, but these remixes are nice additions to the collection. After the jump I added a banging original track from Bassment Bros, a Dj trio from the University of Maryland, that combines pulsing synth chords, an uplifting melody, and a pounding bass line with some female vocals. DO NOT miss that read on button.

Events, Preview, Progressive House | Laidback Luke – Speak Up (Preview) + US Tour

Posted by on March 1, 2012

Laidback Luke is a man who never rests with his Mixmash forum where he responds to all music submissions and tirelessly responds to his fans tweets and Facebook messages like few other artists. All the while he is able to crank out bangers like this one, “Speak Up” with Wynter Gordon. He has been playing it out for the better part of a year now and has really left it a mystery of when he would release this monster until very recently when he released the preview and the release date on March 12th. He is coming over the US for a massive US tour with many more dates to be announced, so do not miss him when he hits your city / area because it will be a party you would be remiss to skip. For those of you heading down to WMC & Ultra check out his Mixmash Pool Party, among the many ridiculous shows that week, because the lineup is great and it is an all day/night pool party. Listen to the preview for “Speak Up” and mark your calender for March 12th as this is going to big. April will remixes of “Speak Up” from the likes of Chris Lake and Mark Knight among others.

Progressive House, Videos | Laidback Luke, Arno Cost & Norman Doray – Trilogy

Posted by on February 20, 2012

After being first revealed at Tomorrowland last year, “Trilogy” has finally arrived from the Dutch superstar Laidback Luke and two up and coming French artists, Norman Doray and Arno Cost. The combination may not seem like the most likely, but the outcome is what matters. All three on them are on the vocals, which are integral in developing the evolving bass line of the song. With its rising synths and driving synth melody, this is a club hit you don’t want to miss.

Electro-House | Aaron Smith – Dancin Ft. Luvli (Laidback Luke Remix)

Posted by on January 19, 2012

I have to be honest, Laidback Luke’s album art was cool on the first few covers, but I’m really not feeling it anymore. I can say though that I was not much of a fan of his until most recent. It was more that I just didn’t didnt understand his style within electro-house til now. He really made Dancin a sick dancing track, makes you want to just bust out haha. You can grab Dancin on Beatport.
