Electronic | gLAdiator – VIP EP

Posted by on August 14, 2013

In honor of hitting the 50k mark on Facebook, LA DJ duo gLAdiator released their VIP EP, a 3-track selection of some of their most popular tracks, tracks that you’ve probably heard at every music festival and block party this summer. Although it’s brief, each song varies enough to keep you on your toes for the release of their actual, official EP. The M1 Stinger track is dope though, probably my favorite out of the three. Download the EP and bump it today in honor of Mila Kunis’s birthday, who happens to be gLAdiator’s “muse and guiding light.”  With a muse like that, how could you possibly go wrong.

Hip-Hop, Rap | I.O.U. – Take A Walk (Prod. Felix Wei)

I.O.U. - Take A Walk
The hip-hop duo from Rutgers University, I.O.U., had sent over their track “Worth It” a couples weeks back, and I never got a chance to post it. Well just in luck, the guys just sent over the video for their new record “Take A Walk” where they sample Passion Pit’s “Take A Walk,” and this might be one of my favorite records from these cats. They delivered on this Felix Wei production with top notch verses from Buck and Izee, and a hook that doesn’t play around. I’m also a fan of this video. The boys were recently out in LA and they took the opportunity to shoot these awesome visuals with director Babylon Jean. Bravo fellas! Keep up the great work! This is a must listen and a must download!

Exclusive, Featured, Interviews | Adrian Lux Interview [FNT Exclusive]

Adrian Lux Webster Hall 2

Prinz Adrian Johannes Hynne aka Adrian Lux has had a long, winding road to where he is now, rising to his well-respected status in dance music. First getting into music around the age of 16, he started as a hip hop DJ before moving into the more underground realms of dance music that were popular at the time in his native Stockholm. He eventually found his sound, becoming heavily influenced by indie pop and a wide range electronic artists in Sweden from Andrew Beyer, to Axwell, to Eric Prydz.

We had the chance to talk about his tour and his show last Saturday, his early DJ life, moving to America and what he is in store for the future. Having just released his debut album last spring, and another on the way soon, it will be very exciting to see everything he has in store for us.

House, Preview | Fehrplay – Talk To Me (Preview)

Posted by on July 15, 2013

Fehrplay Monte / Talk To Me

When Eric Prydz endorses you the way he has like for Fehrplay, you know there is some special talent in the guy. Fehrplay recently previewed the A-side to this two track EP, “Monte“, and now reveals what will be the B-side with “Talk To Me“. Like the A-side, “Talk To Me” shows the middle ground in Fehrplay’s sound that balances both big progressive tracks like “I Can’t Stop It” and darker, brooding techno tracks, like his The Child Of Lov remix. Preview them both below and look for the release in two weeks time on July 29th. Fehrpkay will be going on a small North American Pryda Friends tour alongside fellow label mate Jeremy Olander in August, so be sure to grab tickets today.

Progressive House | Paris Blohm feat. Matt Morris – Miracle (Original Mix)

Paris Blohm is a producer that I only first heard of a few months ago but ever since I did I’ve been impressed with.  His latest original “Miracle” features the superb vocals of Matt Morris and, while being rather short, still provides a great listen. “Presence”, the first song of his I heard is still my favorite but this remains an impressive outing by the young LA based up and comer.

Electro-House | Bass Kleph & Jimi Frew – Gum

Posted by on June 8, 2013

Bass Kleph & Jimi Frew - GumLazy Rich‘s Big Fish Recordings may fly under the radar at times with its releases, but it is consistently putting out well-produced, quality tracks. The same can be said to an extent for the chronically underrated label head himself. LA producer / DJ Bass Kleph has developed a reputation for his outstanding live performances where he does live edits of songs on the fly and he is growing an impressive discopgrahy to go along with that live DJ skill. He teams up with Sydney based producer Jimi Frew, a name to watch in the coming years, to bring us the powerful “Gum”.

“Gum” espouses both melodic and hard hitting electro elements with a driving, chunky low end, carefully orchestrated key play and big synth chords that make this suitable for a wide variety of tastes and a wide range of DJ sets. This is the type of record that could get a crowd going just as much as any top 40 Beatport record, but it would require a DJ to dig into the crates a little to find it — something many DJs this festival season are doing less and less.

Progressive House | Tiësto ft. Kyler England – Take Me

Tiesto ft. Kyler England - Take Me

Tiësto and his team have been busy cranking out tracks this year, from remixes for the likes of Passion Pit, Dada Life and Zedd, to now a flurry of originals set for release on his upcoming Tiësto Club Life Volume 3 Stockholm. “Take Me” with LA based vocalist Kyler England, is the first of that onslaught of originals from the compilation, giving us a taste of what we can expect from Tiësto on the collaboration riddled compilation. “Take Me” brings out the big room sound we have quickly become accustomed to hearing from Tiësto, balancing Kyler England’s vocals with an uplifting piano melody that cascades into a synth laden drop ready to rinsed out by the Dutch master this summer.
