Electro | The Girls Can Hear Us – The AP (Mixtape) | Electro-Rap

Posted by on May 24, 2011

After a long wait, The Girls Can Hear Us has finally released their mixtape, “The AP“. For those of you that have been living under a rock, TGCHU is made up of Will Steep who raps over his own electro productions, and Mike Dunn who dj’s and mixed the tape. Both hail from London, Canada. Rather than being in a normal single track format, the whole tape is just one long 22 minute mix. That kind of makes it a pain to find the best tracks and appreciate each song, but I definitely recommend listening to the entire thing. I managed to get my hands on a couple individual tracks though thanks to Will. Show them some love on Facebook.

Oh my, Chiddy Bang & Mac Miller? These are the kind of collaborations I dream about. Oh by the way, FNT will be sponsoring a Mac Miller show at Webster Hall in Hartford, CT on April 29th. More details coming soon.

Hip-Hop | Childish Gambino – “The Longest Text Message” | Hip-Hop

Childish Gambino  is an artist on fire. He dropped his new mixtape only weeks ago and has already got a heater for us. I really enjoy the beats he uses, kind of like a Kanye style production feel to it. His verses…they are beastly.

DO SOMETHING

Dubstep | Que, Vexare, and Manotti Da Vinci | Dubstep

A lot of people complain that a lot of vocals in a track is not meant for dubstep, but I have to disagree after I heard this. The vocals go flawlessly throughout the entirety of this track complimenting the smooth heavy beat with ease.

I have really been liking these well balanced dubstep tracks, seeing as many of them have been released recently. There are pure, hot vocals mixed with some fire dubstep beats. Works of art if you ask me.

Manotti is no where close to being a household name. This track however was very creative and worth the listen. Not going to lie this track is kind of repetitive, but the beat is some heavy awesomeness. Best part is at 1:20, its pretty funny.

Albums | Frida Gold – “Zeig Mir Wie Du Tanzt (Skrillex Remix)” | Electro

This is one of those don’t shoot the messenger kind of deals. I know this remix has been out for about 3 months now. In those months this has been the least hyped remix of Skrillex’s. It’s about time the general public gets a listen at this Norwegian BANGER.

Electro, House | Quality Electro/House

The L.A. Kings girls were on campus and were kind enough to take a picture with some FNT hats. They asked that their identity remained unknown so I had to blackout their eyes, they look better that way anyways. Enjoy some quality electro/house tracks, no real bangers, just quality music.

Human Life – Wherever We Are (Grum Remix)(4 stars) Upbeat electro feel good track

The Count & Sinden feat Bashy – Addicted To You(4 stars) Great club mix

David Guetta – Who’s That Chick (FMIF Dub Remix)(4 stars) Upbeat house track, huge let down they didn’t include the vocals

Giggs & Cole – Gravity (Club Mix)(3.5 stars) Upbeat house track

Howard Jones – And Do You Feel Scared(3.5 stars)

Girl Fire, Hip-Hop | Nicki Minaj – Roman’s Revenge (Feat. Eminem)

As animated as her facial expressions are, she really missed out on a potentially lucrative mime career. On top of that, the beat was absolute garbage. It’s hard to watch someone like Swizz Beatz, who’s a real talent, fall off. Maybe I should give him the benefit of the doubt and say he’s “inconsistent”. I really hope this wasn’t one of those, “If you do a verse on my album I’ll do one on yours” kind of trade. I’m not trying to see a Nicki Minaj feature on Em’s album. Eminem must have had to been paid a large amount for this feature because it was painful to listen to.
