So you know how when you were 15 and instead of playing football outside with the rest of the guys in gym class you went and chilled with an okay looking girl that obviously likes you at the lake behind the school. You and the biotch were lying in the grass looking at clouds and generally being kind of gay (not that there’s anything wrong with that) when you looked down and it dawned on you that the shorts you had been wearing casually for the past two months perfectly shows the outline of your penis. Nervously, you get up and attempt to leave. The girl was like “wtf u doin” and ran over to you whilst you were walking away.

She then kissed you for like half a second and you became erect and your friends saw and they still tease you about it today.

That happened to me.

Looking back on that day gives me the same response as the one I got from listening to this song.

“Not bad”.

What he has coming up on the docket is relatively unknown, but he is known for his quality with each release and as he stated in terms of his productions, “There will be some surprises in 2013”.

Videos | Armin van Buuren Joined on Stage by Dutch King and Queen; Everything Makes Sense Again

Posted by on May 1, 2013

Here is a video of Armin van Buuren being joined on stage by the King and Queen of the Netherlands, who made an impromptu pit stop at this apparent rave while probably en route to a ball and/or palace.

This video is perfect. Several things:

1) There are currently multiple comments on YouTube alleging that Armin is, in fact, the real King in the North King of the Netherlands and the other guy’s an impostor. Interesting theory.

2) I’m assuming that this is the Dutch equivalent of the Obamas getting on stage with Skrillex at Ultra. Awesome; also excellent visual.

3) In that vein, I’d really like to live in a country where Armin van Buuren is backed by a symphony orchestra and kings and queens come out to wave to the adoring populace as the dulcet sounds of trance and violins fill the air. Armin van Buuren: Dutch National Treasure.

4) The Queen is kind of a babe, no?

5) Coolest royal family ever. Sorry England — until Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles are photographed waving glow sticks at Ministry of Sound, I don’t want to hear about it.

BREAKING: I’ve just been informed that this is a video of King Willem-Alexander’s inauguration, where Armin was specifically asked to perform. However, what King Willem-Alexander isn’t telling you is that the whole inauguration thing was actually a ploy; he really just wanted to see Armin drop his Dead London edit of “Stresstest.”

Events | Ultra Music Festival 2013 — Weekend 2 Recap (Or, If I Never Hear “Clarity” Again, It Will Be Too Soon)

Posted by on April 9, 2013

“You know, the mainstage doesn’t look that awesome this year. In fact, it kind of looks smaller than it did last year.”

I was sitting on a friend’s couch drinking a lukewarm Bud Light and watching Nicky Romero’s Weekend 1 set on a Macbook. We didn’t have the good speakers plugged in because someone was napping upstairs, so the sound was tinny and easy to talk over. The TV mounted to the wall was tuned to NCAA basketball with the volume off. It was early on Friday evening and I was in the process of getting over bronchitis. A bag of Doritos was making the rounds.

“Shit guys. This stage is bullshit.” I grabbed a fistful of Doritos and gestured at the computer. “Look at it. It’s just sitting there, being purple. God, the mainstage is going to effing suck this year.” My friends nodded sagely. I leaned back, satisfied that my point had hit home, and turned my attention to the basketball game.

Of all the things I’ve been wrong about in my life, this has got to be top three.

Hip-Hop | Hi-Rez — Never Enough (feat. Kinetics) [Music Video]

I’ve been aware of Hi-Rez’s growing stardom for awhile now, but it wasn’t until I really delved into his work that I realized how deserving he is. Rez is a talented rapper in his own right, who cares about the kind of hip-hop he represents, and thus works diligently on his lyricism. Joining him on this gripping, melodic Cherne beat is Kinetics, an absolute lyrical warrior, who is becoming one of the blog-world’s most consistent songwriters and emcees. Neither disappoints here, and Kinetics’ enthralling hook is what gives it its true lasting appeal. Be sure to stay updated on these two as their popularity continues to grow — we can only imagine that they are destined for long careers given their talent.

Progressive House | Ferry Corsten – Rock Your Body Rock (Arty / Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Remixes)

In celebration of its 100th release, Ferry Corsten’s Flashover Recordings has tagged hot and in-demand producers to remix his 2003 classic “Rock Your Body Rock” – fittingly on the track’s 10 year anniversary. Arty brings back his “Rock N Rolla” styled remix, with the kind of vibes he put to use on his remix of Ferry Corsten’s “Punk” to great effect (and which was a launching point for his career). This remix features the similar hard snares and kicks as “Punk,” adding Arty’s own flavor to the track and carrying the timeless sound of the original to now. The “MainStage” mix from Belgian duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike has been the version that Ferry himself has played most lately, giving the track a modern day festival energy thanks to a tantalizing build and a hard-driving minimal drop that totally flips the script on the original. They both take very different approaches and have their own unique strengths, so take a listen and decide for yourself.
