We’ve been long time fans of Kaptain who’s been putting out quality records for years now, even further back from where his Soundcloud begins. We’re not going back, only forward, just as Kaptain has done. The latest step in his journey is an original called “Wouldn’t Change A Thing” and much like the title, we wouldn’t alter this one bit. Kaptain’s full of surprises, such as the little tidbit that this work stemmed from an audio-visual collaboration with the Visual Director Greg Ellis from the Pretty Lights camp. Not a bad person to be affiliated with! That’s much deserved though, as Kaptain has been grinding away at keeping his project 100% legit. As usual, Kaptain released this single as a free download.

Kaptain has been one of those extremely talented producers who is flying under the radar. His unique sound has been likened to guys like GRiZ and Pretty Lights, but the San Francisco songster stands on his own. After releasing his incredible When The Sky Shimmers EP, he was tapped for an official remix for Super Best Records, and now he’s back again with another official flip. This time around, Kaptain got his hands on “Hiding From The Rain,” the collaborative single from Autolaser and PLS&TY. With his take he brings the groove with a future funk record that rivals even his best remixes (which, unfortunately were taken down from Soundcloud). Kaptain’s ability to put together a well-constructed, diverse production is something that makes him a special creator in the electronic world. This song is another example of that. Stream it today and grab the free download below.

If you’ve been following us over the past month, you may have come across an act by the name of Kaptain. This San Francisco creator dished out two singles leading up to the release of his full When The Sky Shimmers EP that dropped yesterday. We shared with you both “When The Sky Shimmers,” and “Testament” which blew me away, and now “Every Day of the Week” is here. Kaptain keeps his funky style intact, however he leans much more on the future sound in his production. Wavering synth work is matched with funky guitar and thick basses. It’s the perfect mix of a whole lot of things, and the wait was certainly worth the hype. Kaptain has been dominating playlists lately, which should come as no surprise. This dude has some real talent.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, couples are looking for some quality love-laced records to throw on. In comes Kaptain to the rescue with his newest single called “Testament.” This single is the second release off the San Francisco producer’s EP, When The Sky Shimmers, that drops on February 24th. The first single blew me away, and this second one may even be better. Kaptain isn’t the only one you will find on this gem, as he enlists vocalist Grant Genske for a soulful and lively performance. Willdabeast brings some live instruments to the table, including trumpet, trombone and flute. “Testament” is the full package. Not only is it a great tune, but it’s a free download, so you have no reason not to get it. Take it with you on your Valentine’s Day gatherings, and you’ll be thanked appropriately.

Kaptain is one of those producers that is really forging his own path as an up and coming producer. There are a decent handful of future funk guys spreading their wings, but there’s something special about this San Francisco producer. We’ve covered his works in the past, but we’re even more excited for what is coming. Recently, Kaptain dropped a free download for the lead single of his upcoming EP, When The Sky Shimmers, that will be dropping in late February. The title track is a cool mixture of psychedelic vibes with a funky future sound that transforms from the very beginning to the very end. Kaptain’s dynamic ability is something to be cherished in the dance music world that is filled with copy-paste drops. He’s bringing powerful songwriting to the table, which you will hear even more of in the other two tracks that are coming in the next month. For now, enjoy “When The Sky Shimmers.”

Kaptain is one of those smaller artists who puts out nothing but quality music. If you’re into chiller stuff, and you don’t know of this San Francisco artist, then you are missing out. Luckily, he released a new free original today called “Yesterday Will Float Away.” For fans of Kaptain, you’ll recognize the guitar from his long time partner Brizzy who’s been featured on several tracks, but you may not be familiar with the vocalist Carly Jaquier; unless you were at GRiZ’s Red Rocks show, where she performed with the future funk king. She flexes her pipes in this song, which is one for the record books. Kaptain’s laid-back production is just the perfect thing to melt away your pains of the week. Press play, and prepare to be absorbed into its cosmic vibrations.
