Albums | Chaz Cardigan & The Gifted Connect For “Feels Like I Know You”

Posted by on May 14, 2021

Nashville singer/songwriter Chaz Cardigan connects with L.A. based duo The Gifted for a feel-good new collaborative single called “Feels Like I Know You” that goes over a relatable topic that only some people are lucky enough to fully understand. The indie pop anthem proves once again that Chaz is a rising star in the alternative pop space and excites me for what’s next for his project. Read a quote from him on the meaning of “Feels Like I Know You” below and check out the track above now!

“Social media really nurtures this desire we all have to be seen, and to find intimacy with strangers.  You see someone’s life in pieces every day on your feed, and your brain puts them all together, like, ‘yes, I know them, we’re close!  Just yesterday they went for a drive to their parents’ place.’  We’re all guilty of becoming friends with people who have no clue we exist.  “Feels Like I Know You” is about that disconnect between following someone at a distance everyday, and the easy, honest jump in logic to considering them a friend — or more.  The weird consequence of everyone being a brand is that everyone, famous or not, we’ve all got these parasocial bonds with total strangers now; I really wanted to follow that idea to its extremity. Everybody’s a stranger, so no one’s a stranger; “1’s and 0’s, it’s just as real as skin”.” – Chaz Cardigan

Pop | Listen to Rei’s New Single “Give Me a Little Jazz”

Posted by on January 30, 2021

With years of practice and performance under her belt, Rei is definitely an artist to keep an eye on. “Give Me a Little Jazz” is her latest tune and it delivers an incredible listen that gives the listener an uplifting feeling. Needless to say we’re excited for what’s to come. “My songs reflect the idea that while we’re all isolated to varying degrees both as individuals and groups, we’re all equal in our ability to appreciate music. I write songs with themes across different generations, genres, ethnicities, gender preferences, and social consciousness, from equality to the environmental crisis. I sing for the sad, the lonely, and the heartbroken, so they know they’re not forgotten,” she says. Tune in to “Give Me A Little Jazz” above now!

Alternative | Hugo Valentine shares powerfully poignant new single “Rule the World”

Posted by on September 9, 2020

“Rule the World” is the newest track in a string of releases from London based singer-songwriter, Hugo Valentine. His latest offering is a cheery, yet equally pensive pop ballad filled with rich, acoustic instrumentation. His musical inspirations are obvious on “Rule The World, citing artists like Elton John, ColdPlay and Arctic Monkeys to Tom Odell and David Bowie. Valentine continues to impress on his string of releases in 2020, check out his latest above now and read a quote from him on the single below now.

“…Often one finds a lot of comfort in reminiscing about happy times from the past, and this is an idea that the song explores. The notion of ‘together we can rule the world’ aims to fill the sufferer with the hope that he doesn’t have to do this alone, that others are there for him and that he can make it through this difficult part of his life with the help of those who love him. ‘Rule The World’ brings to light the isolation that often comes with addiction and seeks to remind people who suffer in this way that they are not alone.”

Albums | Cloudkid releases “Born To Die” by Besomorph & Coopex

Posted by on March 20, 2020

German producer Besomorph collaborates with Coopex with Ethan Uno for “Born to Die,” as they bring out the guitar riffs, and hard bass drops. If you’re in panic right now, not sure where it’s all going, and want to get a hold of your nerves. Press play, tomorrow isn’t promised. Once you’ve accepted this, you can live in peace. Go big or go home!

Ethan, the vocalist shares with us:

The lyrical story portrayed relates to my own experience with past failed relationships. The idea of being “Born To Die” was inspired by the original demo title by Besomorph and Coopex. I felt that that phrase was captivating and perfectly described the atmosphere of the production. I built the song’s story off of that phrase, developing it into the idea that the connection that my ex and I had was “Born To Die.”

Rat City is back with the animation for their follow up to ‘Kind of Love,’ ‘Deliriously Good’, and have been making a splash on Norwegian radio with their retro pop sound. Check out their music video above, conceived by US-based animator ‘Micah Monkey’ who designed a whole world of characters for the band inspired by the Gorillaz, as the band shares, “We are all big fans of the Gorillaz and loved the idea of Rat City starting life as an animated project…telling stories of a hotbed of seedy characters who stab each other in the back at every turn.”

Cover | Patty Crash & Kronic reinvent a classic

Posted by on October 28, 2016

To be honest, the idea of an Icelandic born songwriter covering a classic Australian electro tune sounds beyond bizarre, but somehow this is starting to make sense.

Patty Crash, who earned herself a Grammy nod for her work with The Roots, adds her “Macy Gray meets ODB” spin to Sneaky Sound System’s 2006 hit, Pictures. With a little help from the now LA-based Kronic, the duo transform the original electro hit into a trapped out downtempo jam.

Mix | Jack Rabbit Goes Dark for Halloween Mix

Posted by on October 24, 2016

So… Jack Rabbit gets evil huh? This mix is creepy as hell, but good, really good. With some of the darkest music we’ve heard accompanied by various creepy movies quotes, this mix perfectly sets the mood for these days leading up to Halloween. We had no idea that the rabbit had this side to him, seeing as all of his previous mixes are so jolly and playful… his range in music taste is impressive.
