Trap | Flosstradamus – Lana’s Theme

Posted by on June 4, 2012

I had to choose between seeing Flosstradamus and Flux Pavilion this Friday in Austin, and although Flux’s show was amazing, I wish I could travel back to see these guys tear the stage up. Hearing good things about their live shows and the energy these guys bring, made me frustrated I had to miss them. Releasing their highly anticipated interpretation of Lana Del Rey’s “Video Gamez”; these guys absolutely smashed it. I have never wanted to bob my head to a song so much before this track came around. It is tough to not enjoy their music when they are bringing together a fusion of electronic and a hint of hip-hop.

Hip-Hop | Mac Miller – Thugz Mansion (Tupac Cover)

I’m not sure how I feel about this. Malcolm McCormick taking on one of the greatest hip-hop songs of all times. Blasphemy, right? It’s an incredibly tricky thing taking on songs by dead artists, and I’m not sure that this was done correctly. I believe Mac overstepped his bounds by trying to cover a song from the greatest of all time. It was clearly done out of respect, but how respectful was it? Let’s talk, find us on twitter, in the chatbox, on facebook, or in the comments section.

Hip-Hop, RnB | Cocaine80s – Express OG EP

Posted by on May 30, 2012

Grab this right now! Although this is rather hard to put into one specific genre, it is unique and phenomenal. Combining captivating guitar riffs, powerful vocals, quality rhymes, and even grabbing features from two of Hip-Hop’s legends, Nas and Common, Cocaine80s makes this brand new EP a must have. My standout tracks are Take My Keys and This Can’t Be a Crime.

DOSVEC is well known for his electronic mashups, but it is rare to see some Hip-Hop. Today we bring you DOSVEC’s Hip-Hop mashup mixtape, ‘Gamut.’ This mixtape I came to realize is perfect for just about any situation. You can kick back on a lazy Sunday with a few friends enjoying the day in the simplest ways, or you can bust it out for a party and really get down to the blend of Hip-Hop favorites from the past few decades. ‘Gamut’ really shows DOSVEC’s versatility in his mashup creations, I am excited to release these singles in the future. Fans don’t be afraid to make requests of which ones you would like to get your hands on first. To view the track-list just click the image above to enlarge.

Hip-Hop | Pretty Lights – You Get High

Posted by on May 8, 2012

I was just saying the other day that Pretty Lights needed to make another release, my prayers were answered what seems almost instantly. This soulful Hip-Hop track is nothing short of incredible. It is always awesome to see Pretty Lights give out a track in the style that made us all fall in love with him. Even if Pretty Lights decided not to release all his music for free, he would still be one my favorites of all time.
