Progressive House | SHM + Laidback Luke – Leave The World Behind (Outmode Bootleg)
Posted by Middy on June 1, 2014
Promising young Gotherberg duo, Outmode have released their remix of the quintessential late 2000’s prog tune LTWB. A robust and bouncy remix, Outmode add their own unique spin on the tune that takes a more groove oriented approach, while still much of the original genius shine through. Similar “Freak Me Out”, their latest single which was championed by Kryder, they draw from their “quality house” sound, adding very promising Swedish faces to the genre their country helped pioneer.
Despite being only 19 years of age, they show maturity in their productions beyond their years and a diversity in sound that is rare for producers their age. It’s not a matter of if, but when these guys break out on the international stage. Now is the time to say you were there when it all began.
House, Progressive House | Eric Prydz – Pjanoo (Laurent Iacomucci Bootleg)

Take a good look at the young man in the image above because not only does he clearly have top-tier pectoral muscles (thank God for tight v-necks am I right ladies?), but he is also helping to revive the groove filled style of progressive house that was so popular prior to the genre becoming mainstream and switching to the euphoria driven sound. Laurent lacomucci is a 20 year old from the tiny country of Luxembourg and has broken away from his string of originals to put his own spin on the Eric Prydz classic, “Pjanoo”. The signature piano melody as well as the background arp remain but they have been reworked to fit into a groove heavy context. Everybody thought that Ja Rule and Ashanti were perfect together when they did that song back in 2002 but times changed and groove in house music took a back seat to Ashanti and uplifting chords so it’s nice to see young producers reverting back to that classic style.

Bootleg, Electro | Cashmere Cats – Wedding Bells (Lazerdisk Bootleg)

Pretty much any song with artwork like is destined for greatness. Just as good as its artwork is the song, featuring a refreshing twist on Cashmere Cat’s beautiful ballad, Wedding Bells. From start to finish, the song engages your ears incorporating different synths, chords, and even a steel drum, and who doesn’t love a steel drum? Here’s what the men of lazerdisk had to say about the track:
Definitely a must listen, so peep it below and get your groove on. Enjoy!

Progressive House | Marcus Santoro & Jason Forté – Torque
Posted by Mel on April 10, 2014
Marcus Santoro has shown that he can do both uplifting progressive house, as most recently demonstrated in his collaborative remix of “Young Hearts”, as well as the more groove filled, harder style. He has gone with the latter style in his latest single which was done together with fellow Australian Jason Forté. The song starts with a light melody before changing over in the build for a gritty drop. It’s out now on the recently formed Australian label Basik.

House | Mutiny UK & Steve Mac ft. Nate James – Feel The Pressure (Axwell & NEW_ID Mixes)

Remember “Feel The Vibe”, “Tell Me Why”, “Submariner” and “I Found U”? That is Axwell that made him so popular with his ability to engrave a sexy groove within a melodic and emotional track. Nothing has changed since the late 2000s, though his recent tunes have erred on the side of anthemic (not that anyone is complaining), versus the more stripped down and groove driven tunes of the past. “I Am” tabbed Dutch rising stars Sick Individuals to collab on that ridiculous project and now he comes together with the newly branded “NEW_ID”, formerly “NO_ID”, to craft to scintillating and groovy remixes for “Feel The Pressure”. This is vintage Ax that uses the grooviness from NEW_ID to make it even better. It’s new Axwell, must I say more? I am sure Hook N Sling (like the rest of us) is getting a bit impatient waiting for “Tokyo By Night” to release…..

Chill, House | Niykee Heaton – Bad Intentions (Matt DiMona Remix)

Since everybody is talking about it, I suppose I’ll just get it out of the way. It’s not going to happen for me tonight. It did happen for me last night though. Just kidding it didn’t. Anyway, the girl who I spent about 30 minutes perusing her Instagram this morning, Niykee Heaton, has had her song “Bad Intentions” remixed by the currently LA based producer Matt DiMona. I don’t really know much about these kinds of romantic songs, for obvious reasons (I just don’t really like them), but this has a nice feel to it. A large portion of the original is retained but he added more of a house groove to it. He actually says that you should, and I quote, “probably have sex to this song”. Should you? Well, as I have said many times before, I don’t even know how that would work. If you want to I guess you could. If you do, please tell me about it. I would love to know.
