At just twenty years old, Oliver Heldens has managed to champion an emerging genre into the spotlight, in addition to starting his own record label, Heldeep Records. The Dutch wunderkind has guided thousands of dance music fans into the deeper genres by sharing his brand of future house at festivals around the world like EDC Las Vegas and Tomorrowland – and now, he’s bringing some serious groove to the west coast during a special two night Oliver Heldens takeover at Exchange in Los Angeles on 9/10 and 9/11. Joining the Heldeep Records head honcho on day 1 are emerging future house stars, Shaun Frank and Chocolate Puma, while Loud Luxury and Michael Calfan will be manning the decks in support on the second night. September is fast approaching, so dust off those dance shoes and get ready to groove, and make sure to snag tickets here before they sell out.

Nu Disco | Jerry Folk Releases His Newest Nu-Disco Single “Futura”

Fresh off of his stellar remix of Oh Wonder’s “Lose It,” Jerry Folk is back with his second original, “Futura,” a nu-disco masterpiece that showcases the Norwegian producer’s various influences. It’s rare to find a producer who can float between genres as effortlessly as Jerry Folk, as his signature nu-disco style often blends with other influences like house and indie. Old-school, 70’s-inspired synths wash over the production in “Futura,” while a plucking bass guitar and driving piano melody gives the track a deep groove fitting for a 4 am warehouse rave. You can peep “Futura” above!

As a fan of the 2000s classic film, Wet Hot American Summer, I had to listen to The Interns’ brand new mix, “The Interns Presents: Wet Hot Los Angeles Summer,” when it came scrolling by while I was on my daily SoundCloud scavenge. On their hour-long mix, The Interns glide through a number of their inspirations, showcasing the soul and groove that has come to define their music. House | EDX Unveils His Miami Sunset Remix of Spada’s “Catchfire”

Posted by on July 2, 2015

Facebook | Soundcloud | Twitter

Most artists prefer to spend a solid portion of the year in the studio, working on an EP or an album, and spending the rest of the year touring, but EDX seems to have found a way to marry the two successfully, allowing him to tour while still putting out stunning releases. He’s currently in the midst of his massive “Want You” tour, but he’s delivered a Beatport chart-topping remix of Sam Feldt’s “Show Me Love,” and now, he’s unveiled his “Miami Sunset” remix of Spada’s “Catchfire.” The remix is a two-faced monster – EDX keeps the summery vibes of Spada’s original untouched, but gives the track a deep groove, turning it into a dance floor heater. The remix is due out on July 6th via EGO.

Future House | Pete Tong Previews Martin Solveig’s Brand New “+1”

Posted by on May 7, 2015

Ah, the plus one. A ubiquitous request made many a times by those in the “the scene”. Martin Solveig is likely no stranger to this request, as he’s toured the world and back with his infectious production and knack for knowing what’s next in dance music. Case and point: “+1” a future house tune previewed by BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong that has groove written all over it. Building on the success of his massive “Intoxicated” with GTA, I suspect “+1” out on Spinnin’ Deep will see equally strong results on June 1st.

Mmmm yes Monday morning is slowly becoming one of my favourite days of the week. It’s with the help of these two rock stars that as I sip on my morning brew I can feel energizing synths vibrating through me, helping me stand at attention. Out on the elite Silk Music Eleven.Five and Meyce slip in the very groove driven, trance inspired, and club stopping “The Alliance.” My friends, I would not sleep on this one – enjoy.
