Last December, Electric Paradise made its debut on the beautiful beaches of the Dominican Republic. The festival returns to its tropical location on December 19 with many indications of a bigger and better experience. New additions this year include a multi-stage setup, art installations, and food and technology aspects to bring the festival to the next level. The first phase of lineup announcements included huge names like Major Lazer, Porter Robinson, Gorgon City, Steve Angello, and Cash Cash, among others. The final lineup artist adds Martin Garrix, Bassjackers, Anna Lunoe, and plenty more. The bill has really come together to promise an incredible experience filled with mind-blowing music, all with a paradisiacal backdrop.

This December, the Dominican Republic is in for one of the best festivals to hit the Caribbean. Electric Paradise is making its triumphant return to its beach-front venue in Punta Cana, and it’s already set to be an unforgettable affair, even with just phase 1 of its lineup announced. Everyone from Chromeo to Hot Since 82 will be gracing their multiple stage setup, in the midst of many other attractions. In celebration of the first artists being announced, we’ve put it upon ourselves to highlight some of our favorite acts on the bill and give you a deeper look into them. For its second year, Electric Paradise has expanded greatly, now including art, food, design, and technology and a multi-stage experience to perfect the festival’s presence in Punta Cana. Reggaefusion duo Major Lazer, funk-master Chromeo, synth-melting Porter Robinson, and house guru Steve Angello top this year’s first phase of the lineup announcement for the biggest festival in the Caribbean. These names alone carry enough weight in dance music to be worth the trip alone, but the lineup doesn’t end there. Gorgon City, AlunaGeorge, Cashmere Cat, Cash Cash, Hot Since 82, Moon Boots, and Matthew Johnson add to the talent that will grace the island this upcoming December. The Black Butter roster is nothing but knee-deep in talent. Kidnap Kid, Gorgon City, Clean Bandit, Rudimental, Jessie Andrews, and more all make up the elite roster of talent, and the UK imprint continually push the boundaries with every release they take on. This year’s Movement Music Festival in Detroit already has a lineup overflowing with dance music talent that will ensure three days of incredible music, but Black Butter looks to extend the party a little bit longer with their official Movement Music Festival AfterParty on May 25th at Detroit’s Populux. On the eve of their show at Webster Hall tomorrow (we may have some words with them, not like the words they have in hockey, but real ones), the Bixel Boys preview a new remix, this time for Canadian songstress Kiesza. “Hideaway” has quietly become an underground sensation with remixes already in the books by the likes of Gorgon City and Dzeko & Torres, with many more to come. Drawing us back in to the smooth and sexy sound we know from them after a more aggressive effort for Thomas Newson, the California duo create a jam fit for their own coasts and your pools. There is no release date yet, but we hope it is this summer so you can jam poolside.
