Hip-Hop | Top 10 Hip-Hop Albums of 2013

Best of 2013 hh albums
Ah, yes. It’s that time of the year again and although I’m sure your iTunes and Spotify playlists have been inundated with “Top Albums, Videos, Remixes, Puppy GIFS” etc. I figured, “why not add to the mix?”

With that go get ’em attitude in my mind, let me lay out some ground rules for how I decided and debated on this list. First off, this is the top hip-hop albums of 2013, that means no “Acid Rap”, no “Blue Chips”, no “1017 Thug”. There will be a list and a time for those to make their appearance, however, this collection of projects is strictly for artists who released their music in the form of a paid album.

I’m looking forward to sharing this collection with you all, but to be honest, I’m even more excited to have you all criticize me, and make me feel like a worthless nobody because of the albums I missed. So, be sure to toss in some offensive comments below!

Let’s get right in to it…

Hip-Hop, Videos | ASAP Rocky – F**kin’ Problems ft. 2Chainz, Drake, & Kendrick Lamar [Music Video]

No artist or group will ever top Blink 182’s “Family Reunion” when we talk about vulgar songs.  A$AP Rocky brought along his R-rated clique for his blazing single, “F**kin’ Problems,” which in short, is not a track you want to have a sing along with Grandma in your passenger seat.  Now I’ll admit this is (and has been for weeks) my favorite song to crank in my car.  40 knocks the hell out of the beat and when you have an all pro cast assisting you, it’s hard to fail.   Knowing that 3 of the industry’s hottest features all landed on the same track, I can’t help but critique young Rocky.

Among others, “Peso” and “Goldie” awarded him the opportunity to have such a respectable cast on this single, but did he abuse his leverage? Sure this record is the filet mignon of features, but was it necessary?  I’m still left questioning whether A$AP can make a mainstream hit on his own account.  One feature, sure, but 2Chainz, Drizzy, and K.Dot?  In my eyes, he was out shined on the track.  As much as I enjoy singing along to this with my middle finger flying, I wish A$AP made HIS own.
