Possibly my favorite genre of music, progressive house literally takes over your body with melodic build ups and synths that get you lost in the track. EDX remixed one of my all time favorite songs (posted below) and now comes at us with another progressive house track that will have you leaning back and closing your eyes before you even realize what you’re doing.

If you’re looking for that mental escape to paradise, let your ears lead the way with Mark Hardy’s latest remix to Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are” (posted below, documentary film above). I’ve been fortunate enough to talk to Mark at length about the struggles of Carribean music namely the reggae genre. Every month there are thousands of riddims, remixes, and originals that hit the market, yet none of them seem crip enough for a spoiled American ear to enjoy. Throw this great guy a bone and like his facebook page here and dont be shy to tell your friends about him. Dubstep | DUBSTEP | Artist You Need To Know – Flux Pavilion

Although dubstep originated in the UK and had a much more grimey feel, for the last 5 years dubstep has slowly been creeping into the music scene in the United States, especially in the last 6 months. If you played a Rusko track for me two years ago and told me that I would be listening to this music on repeat…I would have thought you were nuts. Fast forward to present day and take a look at my top 25 most played tracks on my iTunes, (beneath Halo by Beyonce) you’ll see at least 6 of those tracks are all dubstep. Flux Pavilion has penetrated the dubstep genre with filthy basslines, a nice blend of vocals, and massive drops that literally leave you’re jaw dropped. When it comes to the art of producing a remix, you would be hard pressed to find better talent than DJ Kue and Djs From Mars. All of these guys consistently put out huge remixes, and have managed to remain in the forefront of a very crowded genre. With that said, saddle up and let these remixes help to carry you into 2011. For all of you who went through the emo/hardcore phase like I did (sadly), Skrillex, also known as Sonny Moore, was the front man for the band From First to Last. After a few attempts at solo projects he released his first EP in October 2010 which was an instant hit securing 8 of the 10 top spots on Beatport. Skrillex kills it with his unique ability to balance grungy heavy whomps with soft synths and piano, he’s almost his own genre of electronic music. Buy the EP here!

When these guys originally emailed us we weren’t blown away but when my big homey Malakaweezy sent over some hand picked tracks I realized that we’ve been neglecting a certain genre: “kick-back rap”. If you’re looking for something a little harder than your average alternative rock song but still something you can vibe to check these out.
