Cover, Hip-Hop | PropaneLv – Ball (T.I. & Lil Wayne Cover)

Posted by on January 1, 2013

Continuing his onslaught of covers PropaneLv has gone back to his urban side that made his No Lie cover so successful. This time bringing us his version of TI and Lil Wayne’s “Ball”. The beat alone is nuts, but I love Lv’s flow on this one, maybe more than any other cover he’s done. His improvement over the last 6 months has been fun to watch, can’t wait to see what’s next.

Since today marked the end of the Mayan calendar and some say it’s the end of the world, we might as well make some fun of it. That’s just what Mike Stud and Jon Kilmer did with this end of the world theme song that fans voted them to do via Twitter. They take shots at the Mayans as well as Westboro Baptist Church, enjoy.

Moombahton | Nicky Romero & Nervo – Like Home (Dillon Francis Remix)

Posted by on December 17, 2012

In his remix of “Like Home,” Dillon Francis brings his hallmark sound to Nicky Romero and Nervo’s big collaboration. It’s more or less what you’d expect — bright, high leads and a bouncy drop — but it’s a fun and upbeat listen that will be great live. I’d love to see Dillon explore a different direction going forward, but for the time being his distinctive style has legs.

Dubstep, Mashups | KOAN Sound vs. Will Smith – Sly Fox of Bel Air (James Scott Bootleg)

Posted by on November 30, 2012

Happy Friday FNT nation. I don’t normally fool around with mashups but this one is too good to pass up. For maximum fun tonight, treat your friends to this sweet bootleg that mashes KOAN Sound’s “Sly Fox” with the legendary anthem that is the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme. Skrillex has been known to toy with Will Smith’s verse in his live sets, but he hasn’t thought of this particular combination — “Sly Fox” is the perfect swingy backdrop for this 90’s classic. For more tunes, check out James Scott’s Soundcloud.

Trance | Cosmic Gate – Calm Down (Remixes)

Posted by on November 5, 2012

German trance duo Cosmic Gate just dropped the full package for their single “Calm Down,” and while you’ve probably been hearing the original in some iteration for the better part of a year, solid new interpretations from Omnia, Ost & Meyer, and Zetandel (and an extended mix to boot) make this a nice treat for early in the week. Omnia’s remix has already been making the rounds, getting airtime on ASOT #583 and in Thomas Gold’s latest essential mix , and if you’re a fan of the young Ukrainian’s driving progressive style then you’ll definitely enjoy his latest handiwork. Ost & Meyer take a more restrained approach than Omnia but weave in big room synths that strike just the right balance. Rounding out the package is Zetandel, who pulls a Kaskade and furnishes us with a chillout mix that’s reminiscent of the latter half of Fire & Ice.

Fun fact: Omnia’s real name is Smirnov Evgeny Aleksandrovich. Now say that five times fast.

Drum & Bass | Wax Motif & Neoteric – Go Deep (Torro Torro Remix)[Killagraham D’n’B Edit]

Posted by on November 1, 2012

KillaGraham dropped his huge new EP, “Lifted,” only a month ago, since he has been getting an insane amount of recognition for all the work he has been doing. With support of dance floor champs Torro Torro, KillGraham has done an energy filled Drum & Bass edit of Torro Torro’s remix of “Go Deep.” This edit doesnt go deep, but the constantly changing pace of the track is a lot of fun. Not the usual you hear from Drum & Bass, but I want more.
